She lost weight and started making facial expressions with more than just her eyebrows.
I'm serious. Go watch the previous seasons and count how many times she showed emotions with any depth. She improved acting abilities or maybe the show just has directors that work well with her this season. Either way, her facial expressions aren't as hollow as they had been in previous seasons and that makes her more likable to normal people.

the way other characters "legitimize" a pairing by directly speaking to the characters in question despite little to no evidence of romantic tension, who are then met with a denial of any kind of feelings of attraction, is very common in anime

i literally just saw this trope multiple times in a random 90s anime that doesn't even have an english dub. before you bitch about me bitching about anime while also watching anime consider the following

- most anime is intended for children/teens/manchildren

- they are cartoons and one choosing to watch a cartoon should naturally expect some degree of juvenile retardation (not that this completely excuses anime/toons from their faults or makes them any less annoying) unless they're watching some super serious pretentious anime

- game of thrones is considered to be mature and realistic (by fantasy standards) by most of its fans and its creators

live action should be held to a higher standard as the viewer subconsciously takes it more seriously. the contrast between the ways the characters act and the more believable visuals is all the more jarring and immersion breaking. just because it's a fantasy show doesn't excuse characters from acting like morons when it has nothing to do with their character traits or the established fantastical elements of the universe

if got wasn't such a huge cultural phenomenon and just seen as some dumb fantasy it would be easier to accept, but the fact that there are countless videos/interviews displaying d&d&co's misplaced pride in their shitty show is certainly detrimental
