I've seen it, I didn't like it very much. Even as someone who likes hokey 50s b-movies I thought it was poor. Might watch it again to see if I'm missing anything.

Speaking of Carpenter, while I wouldn't call it better, as far as remakes go I thought the remake of Assault on Precinct 13 was pretty fucking good.
