Will we ever get a good Dune?
If Dunecat wills it.

Duncan is a black dude.

Good casting but make this guy Paul instead and Michael Fassbender as Duncan

He's Mediterranean

>Paul looking like an emaciated junkie on the wagon
Nah.
It's pretty rare to get something good from shitty source material
>>86508610
who is that for Paul?
I think the Lynch/DeLaurentis miniseries was good in a lot of respects, it had top-tier atmosphere, universe building (especially rhe esoteric factions), great soundtrack, and a solid ensemble cast. It did go a bit off-story and a few castings might be a little dubious though.
The SciFi miniseries (and Children of Dune) were decent enough in their ways too, decent casting on some characters (not as good as Lynch version though), they were good straight adaptations of the source (and properly fleshed out characters for the most part, more balanced in that regard). One thing the SciFi series dropped the ball on, was visual effects were abyssmal, and while the mundane aspects of the universe were well-depicted, the esoteric aspects (Bene Gesserit, Guild, Mentats) were mediocre. There also wasn't quite the compelling exotic atmosphere Lynch's version had.
But in general between the main Dune adaptations we've had, the positive aspects of both combined to make a solid adaptation overall; especially considering novels don't always make great adaptations for film. We don't need some shitty ass adaptation full of whatever social agenda every fucking mass media project has anymore, fuck that.

Nah, he needs to be Feyd.

Benicio del Toro as Duke Leto.
Asa Butterfield as Paul.

HBO really needs to pick this up. It would be a good replacement for the game of thrones audience to watch.
