the whole point of this storyline was that they were in love with each other but didn't realise it until too late, and then she realised that what they had was more special, and ephemeral, than 'ordinary' romance, which is why she left to be a flight attendant. This choice was obviously influenced by her obsession with Tony Leung's character, and his ex who was a flight attendant.

So no, she didn't have autism. Like the other story, the point was that love can be found in unexpected places and show itself in unexpected ways.
