As disappointed as I've been with CIA lately I have to say he did pull a slick move after the business with the letter and 4D chess in getting Brienne sent away.

Provides letter, claims he has no clue how arya could ever find out about it. Arya confronts Sansa, scares her and has her reveal her intentions with northern leadership and have sansa reveal her power level.
Sansa is now scared of Arya and contemplating if it comes down to it she may even have to get rid of Arya ( still ignorant of Aryas capabilities to the full extent of what they are )

4D chesses sansa after she's obviously been contemplating that arya might have to disappear by suggesting brienne is honour bound to both girls and she can be the one to resolve the conflict between the two but only does this because sansa will then realise the threat brienne is if she does have to get rid of arya so she sends brienne away to represent her interests in kings landing leaving arya vulnerable. sansa then gets a wake up call when she finds aryas faces.

good to see littlefinger scheming again. too bad he'll die next episode. would've liked to see him give zero fucks and still fuck with people during the long night. but I loved his move in getting brienne sent away by suggesting brienne resolve the conflict between the girls.

Honestly, this could well be it. She's leagues better than Arya (and I'd argue better than even Jon or Dan, who're also bottom of the barrel), and maybe this recent scene where Arya was particularly insufferable made Sansa out to be a far better character than she is. I still don't think she's as shit as others in this thread have made her out to be, though.

In any case, I should be clear, the only genuinely interesting characters left in the show are Jaime and maybe Cersei. I honestly can't think of any other characters I get excited about when they're on screen.

I do agree with that.

But my point is that reveals and twists are not the same thing. A reveal is a clarification of intentionally vague or mysterious writing. Like, what the Night's King is/what the White Walkers are. A reveal requires build up, and the pay off is that we come to understand the work better and fuller.

A twist is something like the purple wedding. It's something that also requires build up, but is different in that the build up is not in suspense or mystery like a reveal but in the creation of a status quo, or an expectation. The status quo was the Joffrey was now king with little opposing him. Tyrion and Sansa were married, the South seemed to be returning to some form of peace. Then Joffrey is assassinated, throwing the work in a completely different direction and jump starting new plot lines, breaking the status quo that was established.

You can and should have reveals in the final act of your work, but twists should be few and far between, generally reserved for some huge ending.
