I went through it this past fall because I had nothing else to watch at the time. It's pretty awful honestly. The problem is that it focuses far too much on being a drama and tries to throw in the curveball "serious" episode every now and then. This starts out pretty interesting but it diminishes to a great effect with each new outing (the episode LCD Soundsystem was pretty good, but the one about Edgar's PTSD was horrible). Another problem is that the show doesn't really care about being funny. I already went through this in my earlier point, but I feel like I should emphasize that none of the castmembers are comedians by trade and are just "actors". THis is important for the "human drama" elements that pervade the show, I guess, but it makes their comedic timing severely lacking. A lot of the humor comes off forced and awkward as a result. A lot of the best humor comes from satire of living in LA and the culture that comes with it, but they really only gloss over those elements and place more emphasis on sex-related jokes for the humor.

They aren't funny. At all. I think the writing is partially to blame too, desu I'm from a school of thought where improv is a great way for characters to "find themselves" and become naturally amusing in their own ways (Mike Judge, Garry Shandling, Larry David are guys who do this). Everything on You're the Worst feels way too overwritten, and the actors seem to force the jokes too.

It's a romantic comedy that's actually good.
