It's satire.
DEATH TO VIDEODROME
LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH
>>86489268
once upon a time there were things called videotapes that were kind of like .avi files except you had to manually rewind them
>>86489268
It's about the convergence of reality and simulation caused by the increasing integration of technology/media into our daily lives.
>>86489268
Formerly Radiodrome
>>86489268
stop watching TV
watch eXistenZ
>>86489678
See it sounds boring when you say it like that. This is why film exists. Moving pictures > text

Everything can sound boring when put in text

That name is so 90s it hurts

Me neither, after watching and loving Eastern Promises and History of Violence, people said THIS was cronenberg's best film. It's just too dated for my taste.
>>86490210
Imagine being this big of a pleb.
>>86489965
except that doesn't sound boring, but some when watching i got bored
>>86490270
rather be a pleb than an old man
>>86490307
>rather be a pleb than an old man

>eXistenZ
>>86489338
don't listen to this trash, kronenbergfags is movie
I'm a sucker for the-investigation-leads-Dante-deeper-into-the-inferno movies (8MM, Ninth Gate) and the unsettling atmosphere strikes the right chords. I enjoy it. It's dated as fuck, but so is most of Cronenberg's earlier stuff. I didn't appreciate it when I was a teenager either.

Do you think OP has above third grade reading comprehension?
>>86490210
>Eastern Promises and History of Violence
Cronenberg is not the director 4u
>dated
Weak, weak critique. In fact it's not even a real critique at all
Did he really kill these people or was it just Videodrome fucking with his brain?
>>86493588
he probably did but things like the gun growing into his arm was obviously hallucinatory
>>86491409
they're great films, but just very differrent. He hit his peak of body horror in the 80's and early 90's. Map to the Stars was fucking gr8 tho
>>86494046
I didn't get it.
>>86489268
I got this shit on Blu-Ray from Criterion for 20 bucks 2 weeks ago. I need to rewatch it soon.
>>86493588
>Did he really kill these people?
Yes.
Cronenberg really killed these people.
>>86489268
You're just becoming a brainlet due to pleb flick consumption. I recommend watching at least 25 films on this list, then go back and watch Videodrome, you'll have the brainpower to understand it by then.
>>86489268
Bait. They explain everything, this isn't Lynch.
>>86496472
>calls someone else a pleb
>recommends the film's on that list
Really makes you think.
It's about how television alters and distorts are perception for the worse and it's one of the first films to warn about the danger the porno industry holds for one's mind. That's what I got out of my first watch, at least.LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!
It's about the closing of Canadian coal mines in the 80s
>>86490210
>It's just too dated for my taste.
it has become more and more relevant with age though
it's eerie how well it predicted the future
>>86499557
why?
>>86490210
>dated
Outside of some special effects that didn't age fine, Videodrome has aged rather well and has been more relevant as time went on.
>>86499645
fucking this
>>86489268
Put simply, it's about TV causing Woods to have hallucinations and distort his reality. The viewer sees these along with him. It seemlessly goes from normality to exploding TV guts, the unsureness of what is real is kind of the point.
