Wight Hunt was good besides Dany showing up within a few hours, and the ridiculous idea of the NK throwing a ice spear half a mile and 1 shotting a dragon. They should have had the dragon land to pick people up, and then be killed by a swarm of wights.


S02E09, S04E09, S05E08, S06E09, S06E10 and S07E04 were all better episodes by a clear mile.

Game of Thrones is a pretentious thrill ride. It likes to think it's kino, and would love others to think that, but doing so is an offense to the medium. Don't get me wrong, I love trash tv, but I can't stand it when it pretends to be something more.

The wight hunt was fucking terrible. They know that they could get surrounded by hundreds of wights at any moment yet they constantly splinter off from each other like idiots. That one guy wouldn't have gotten killed by the polar bear if he wasn't so far ahead for no reason. How did the bear even catch up to him so fucking fast? In one scene its a ways away then in the next scene it side blinds him, wasn't it behind him and not off to the side? The cornered scene on the ice lake was also fucking stupid. As soon as Jon and the group step on the ice it starts cracking but it becomes stable after they start running. Then for some reason hundreds of wights can run on it with no problem, but the ice ahead of them conveniently caves in makes a circle around the island so that the wights can't get them. They spend maybe a day on that rock and Clegane starts throwing rocks at the wights like an idiot and somehow the rock throwing indicates that the ice is now stable so the wights start slowly moving in on them (why aren't they instantly running?) then they start running for some reason (why is the ice not caving in under all the weight now?). They start getting swarmed but for some reason the wights only seem to be attacking one at a time. Then Tolmund gets piled on by wights but doesn't get ripped to pieces but another wildling who isn't plot important has the same thing happens to another guy but he dies instantly. The group inevitably gets swarmed on the island then Jon tells everyone to fall back (fall back to where you idiot?) but Dany shows up with her three dragons (How did she even find them?) Everyone gets on the dragon to escape (not Jon though, he decides to kill some wights for some dumb reason). Then the Night King guts Viscerion in front of Dany and she hardly seems to respond to it outside of her blank face.

stupid shit, it could have been written much better in many places. for instance, instead of gendry emailing dany and her showing up in a day, they could have shown her debating whether or not to go help jon and crew prior to ever receiving a raven. when gendry shows up at the wall, dany is already there waiting for them to come back. it would have been good character building for her.

to be honest i was expecting a great dungeon crawler type romp with all these bros sharing banter as they bash in zombie faces (as they sort of were when they were just walking around in the beginning of the episode), but it all got cut short when they decided to park it on a fucking rock. they had such a long run time for an episode and they decided to waste it on the characters sitting around on a rock.
