It's very entertaining, but I can't brush off the plotholes anymore. They never bothered me nearly as much as the mishandled character arcs and fucked-over thematic subtext from the books, and I always saw the complaints about teleporting etc. as autistic nitpicking, but this season's had an exponential increase in that type of shit and it's just too much, enough that I get taken out of the story every time it happens.

In this episode a raven flies all the way from beyond the wall to Dragonstone and then Dany flies all the way from Dragonstone to beyond the wall in response to the raven over the course of a day and a half. It's not stretching believability anymore, it's outright shattered any sense of scale.

The other teleporting armies could be justified with "the director just fast-forwarded things and skipped events"

But there's no possibility whatsoever that a whole month passes during the fight so that there's enough time for the mail to go to dragonstone and marysue to fly north of the Wall. It's literally impossible. It would take so long that by the time she arrives, the people surrounded by the dead would have grown whole new beards and be starving to death.

The only upside is the book can't possibly be as trash as the television show is. Visually showing people mid-combat then reinforcements that would take several weeks instantly appearing without even a day passing.

This ALSO means he knew he'd need some kind of dragon killing weapon, along with a bunch of heavy ass chains he probably got from hardhome so that he can get a white walker dragon, so that he can break through the wall.

Literally all of the 'ex machinas' in this episode are perfectly explainable if you apply a tiny bit of background knowledge.
