The real question is where did all of those redshirts keep popping out from? Every time someone got owned I was like "wait was that someone important? nvm it's just another random that they haven't even shown with them."

So, if they went out from Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, and they got to a snowy mountain area, that means that they already passed through the hole Haunted Forest.
Yet Gendry gets back to the wall in one afternoon.

It just doesn't seem coherent with the geography of the zones beyond the Wall.

Where are you getting those numbers from. They found the dead within a day by walking. Why is it impossible for Gendry to run it back(besides stamina).

Okay. The writers love to defend this by saying each episode can go through weeks and months, but a raven from Eastwatch all the way to fucking Dragonstone would take a few fucking days right? And we all know there's no fucking answer possible on how the crew lasted on an island that long without warmth or food.

I seriously think this is one of the reasons why GRRM has trouble finishing the books.

He needs to hit all these storypoints and have these characters in the numerous locations, but wants to adhere to the scale of the setting. So he keeps adding filler and characters to pass the time while the characters move around. And he'll end up with an uncontrollably bloated manuscript.

The show cuts all that shit out leaving a bunch of retarded teleporting characters. And that's not really good either.

I wouldn't mind the speed at which people move in this show if not for two factors:

1) Earlier seasons went to great length to show how vast the distances were and how long the journeys took, i.e. Jaime and Brienne returning to King's Landing

2) There wasn't a time sensitive threat approaching The Wall. This in particular is really breaking my suspension of disbelief.

Wasn't that one of the main selling points of the series when it began?

loved this episode, but this fucking annoyed me. it was completely unnecessary too. i'm perfectly content with the book's explanation that different character povs are often weeks or months apart or whatever, and i honestly don't get why this bothers people so much. they could have just dropped the bit with gendry and the raven and had the months ago dany decide on her own to help jon and co. then there would have been no reason why it wouldn't be plausible that the timelines could line up. but instead, they had to fuck everything up by adding this unnecessary detail of gendry sending a raven that pretty much renders what happened impossible.

the only reason i can think they went this route is that the fan criticism of teleporting got them so worked up that they panicked and decided to do literally anything other than letting the retard fans fill in the blanks or god forbid read the books.
