The thing I always liked about the Xenomorph is the way it appears to take on (partially) the form of what species it uses as a host for gestation. It's somewhat humanoid after taking a human host but they could potentially take other forms depending on the host.

Alien Isolation is a fantastic portrayal of the xenomorph because it gets everything about it right.
Everything about that game was gold. The parts where it would ambush you from above were great, and the parts where it would sprint towards you when you saw it were great too.
I mean, you never really get a clear view of it moving in the films (i know its made that way for the horror effect), but the game really nailed how intimidating the way it movies is.
It ran very much like something prehistoric and it was quite frightening when it ran at you.

Also the only thing I didn't like was how its tail dragged along the ground when in the movies its tail was up in the air the whole time

I feel like both ways have a place. If the Alien is just wandering, I can imagine its Tail would drag. But if it knows someone is about, the Tail perks up and begins to wave a bit like a dog. But rapier and more sinister.

No. Other monsters are just copies of creatures that have existed on Earth made bigger or more grotesque. Dinosaurs, apes and insects all have their monster versions. The alien, on the other hand, has no living representation. It's based on symbology we have embedded into our subconscious. It's head, inner mouth and tail are all phallic in nature. It has long, beautiful limbs like a pin-up girl. It reproduces by raping your face with a vagina and you are killed in childbirth. It's ribs and skull resemble a human skeleton. The whole thing is just a blend of sex and death, with a few mechanical elements such as pipes and vents thrown in. Nobody has ever designed anything like it.

The Thing is a better monster.
