Tbf I was 13 when I watched it

GoNY is literally my favorite movie of all time, maybe tied with LOTR.

If you haven't watched it four or five times yet, you need to do so. Only then can you really appreciate it.

The main problem with this film is to do with the writing and directing. The plot is messy and can't decide what it wants to be: a gangster film, a romance filn, a revenge film, a grassroots film; all of these subplots shift and intertwine and a better director could have pulled it off. It tried to hard to be an epic but lacked the subject matter suitable for one. The setting itself is great but the plot should have been either a simple revenge film as it seemed to be from the beginning or a gangster film as it hinted at. So much wated potential.
