Couldn't tell you I haven't seen it yet but plan to. I'd say it's most similar to Cowboy Bebop than anything, but not as good. It still has it's moments and is pretty short (24 eps currently, season 3 coming soon). The comraderie is a strong factor of the 1st half of the 1st season, but after that the MC and Revy get most of the screen time. Which is fine because the are excellent characters and the other 2 not so much.

Live action? Sopranos and Justified, even the least likable characters in the show are likable and the banter is top tier

Anime I'd say ghost in the shell arise (3 are on netflix), gundam origin and you can go on from there, neon genesis is pretty alright, ghost in the shell standalone complex( animation is a bit choppy just given the age of it and being when they found out how to do computer animation), and hellsing ultimate, other than that its really just up to you, find a random tv show or anime and watch the first 1 or 2 episodes to see if you like it
