Your point being...? And even then, Four Nights of a Dreamer feels very Wong Kar Wai-esque.

Ah, kk, anon. I recommend reading some Murakami if you haven't done so already. You'll probably like him (WKW does).
Bresson. His films are so natural, so effortless.

thanks for the rec anon! where should i start?

nice, do you like russian symphony and the ugly swans? they are super underrated imo

If you want something short, start with The Elephant Vanishes, which is a short story collection (Chungking Express was actually based on one of them).
If you just want to read the best thing Murakami has written, and are willing to read a 600-page book, go with The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. The imagery is insane, the writing itself is very comfy, and the atmosphere and pace feels very WKW-esque. Pretty layered book as well.

>read in the chins book that sam rami likes to abuse the ever loving fuck out of him
>muses that hes seen him do the same to other actors, but not nearly on the same levels as him
>think sams over exaggerating
>watch the making of spiderman 2
>toby had a look of a bit of fear in his eyes as he talks about how much shit rami threw at him
>"if anything needed to be thrown from behind the camera at me, sams the one to always do it and he ALWAYS aims for me"
>proceeds to show him throwing bricks, tree branches, dust, sticks, and an assortment of shit at toby
>"but Its no where near the amount of abuse sam dishes out to bruce. he just walks up to bruce and just starts to hit him with a stick. we're not even rolling and its not apart of the scene. just wails on him
>shows footage of bruce standing with sam and sam says "you know im going to beat you in the shins with that 2x4 over there if you fuck this scene up, right bruce?"
>bruces interview time
>says to toby "you think THIS is bad? try filming with him and theres only 6 other people on the set, which is in the middle of no where mind you, and 3 of the 6 other people on set have known you both since middle school... and the other 3 are budding actors with no clout. thats when he really wails on ya"
>mfw its all true

And basically all of his shots are beautiful. It's insane. How did the madman fucking do it?
Kubrick
everyone of his films has such an atmosphere. like they're all in their own universe
