Sony was given a really shitty contract that meant it barely earned any money. Basically Sony paid for 50% of Bond films but got 25% of the profits. The only reason they accepted this was because Sony was running out of franchises. But what's the point of having a franchise if you basically worked for free?

The Sony contract has expired, and I wouldn't be surprised if Sony will ask for a fair share this time. But that meant the other studios can undercut them and get the contract. It is just amazing that we have the lead actor confirmed, but no studio announcement.

There is a part of me that likes the more silly escapism of the mid-late Moore era, and I actually prefer over the top Villains; but I like my Bonds to be more anti-hero the hero. Dalton is possibly my favorite portrayal of Bond even if his movies had shitty plots and terrible production.

One of the great things about the Bond series is that each Bond gets to portray the Character in a different way and bring something new to the table.

If you watch Mendes' other films, you'll see that he is more suited to making films that speak to you visually. Films with shots and scenes that are supposed to make you think.

Bond movies are about class, cars, girls and most importantly infiltration, espionage and cool equipment. Bond movies aren't supposed to have a focus on life, they're supposed to be high stakes and suspenseful espionage. "Who is this man working for?" "Oh geeze, how is Bond going to track him down?" "How will Bond get out of this one?".

Mendes films are all about observing the world and visual slice of life stuff.
Bond films are supposed to put you in the passenger seat next to a hero, on an espionage mission of life or death.

The Bond books are not action packed at all and what makes a good movie is not over the top action but a lot of dialogue like Spectre had despite the dialogue with Waltz not being so good but still it had perfect pacing that relied on story telling.

Everyone hates on QOS and i totally get why as it has some glaring faults but it by far has the best evil premise out of any Bond film. It is the more brilliant and plausible evil plot. I personally can look past some of its faults and really enjoy it.

Craig's Bond is based af, problem is he got the shittiest scripts + direction (fucking Sam Mendes, why couldn't they fucking hire Martin Campbell to do every single Bond? Kike fuckers) ever with Quantum and Spectre, and even them had some salvageable moments.
I'm a bit torn on Skyfall - it wasn't bad per se, but the last act is a complete pacing disaster and totally non-Bond.

It was a solid 7/10.

It looked great, did a nice job playing homage to the right tropes, opening scene and the plane chase in the alps were both fantastic. Mr Hinks great villain, as was the train fight.

It fell apart a bit by the end because of convolted story telling, but such is common during many bonds.

The reaction here is pretty shitty, but that's because /tv/ on average tends to have shit contrarian taste
