Despite being a parody of supposedly more real medical dramas Scrubs had perhaps the most realistic depictions of illnesses and their treatments on television. They had their fair share of iffy things, but most diseases and their treatments were both realistically depicted and realistically dealt with.

There were no miracle cures. Sometimes the doctors were utterly unable to treat a disease. People died from stuff like cancer or heart attacks with surprising frequency. It was actually really cool.

Carla was abusive towards Turk and the relative seriousness of her character makes their storyline get darker and darker as the show goes on. Part of what made the comedy good would be they had characters become depressed.
It's all characters who are optimistic and go through a dark part of their life struggling with a patient's death.

Turk was one of the few who didn't let his insecurities take over him.
The whole point is displaying good people had their own faults.

scrubs is absolute trash. it started okay then nosedived into the toilet very quickly and floated there awhile like some turds do. there are a handful of good episodes with memorable moments, but the vast majority of them are poorly written forced drama all tied together with a generic 'lesson' that is often completely at-odds with what actually transpired.
