Idk about this particular instance, but snap zooms are a modern action movie thing, and its incredibly annoying. They did one in The Force Awakens (no civilians to film anything on fucking not-Tattooine) and Lucas even threw one or two into the Geonosis battle in Attack of the Clones (one of the earliest examples)

Who cares about that shot? The worst was what I call the Final Destination Shot where in that clip a car crashes straight into the camera all flashy and cringe with zero subtext. At least in FD movies it's the victim's POV. They did it better in the 80's because there wasn't cg involved but the cg car headed for the camera 3d style ruins that while scene for me.
