The leads are genuinely miscast. Dane can act but he's wrong for the role, Cara just sucks. It looks cool, it's not terrible, it's a 2.5 star out of 4 situation.

Overall, fun but flawed. Could've done without Rhianna's scenes entirely.

i went to see it with one of my kids - she's 12
we both enjoyed it.
it was visually stimulating and the story moved along at a decent pace.
there was some filler in the middle, but i don't feel that it was overly boring.
i can't say that it's a great movie, but it wasn't horrible. it's basically a romance.
i'm cringing as i'm typing this: it was a fun movie.
also: Herbie Hancock
and also: Cara! she's cute a.f. in this. i don't care what anyone says and i don't care how terrible her acting ability is.

The TERRIBLE acting isn't even this movies biggest problem, that would be how incredibly, moronically, cretinously, DUMB it is. Sure, sci-fi doesn't have to be smart to be good, but when it's as stupid as this, it takes you out of the movie continually.

It's corny and the acting is pretty subpar but it's still a "fun" movie with some nice visuals and cool concepts

And the couple years before that, there was Diamonds, FourFiveSeconds, the Monster, Love the Way You Lie, etc.

I enjoyed the shit out of it. Visually stellar, felt like the comics given life. My only actual beefs with it were the lackluster music (in comparison to other Besson films, at least) and that they needed to get Hugo Boss in on the Federation uniform designs because that green shit they were wearing looked like hot garbage. It takes major effort in fucking up to make Clive Owen look like he's wearing a hemp sack and they managed to accomplish exactly that.
