$10/month to watch unlimited movies in theaters. Would you?
>>
some months are droughts but I'd still probably do it
>>
>>86407993
Aren't these kikes already 20 billion in debt?
>>
>>86407993
Nope there's only 2-3 movies a year I ever actually want to see in theaters
>>
>>86407993
No, I don't go enough. But it sounds pretty good.
>>
Nah movie theaters suck. The assigned seating thing is fucking annoying and everything in IMAX is always 3D. They'll start dying out soon.
>>
>>86407993
no
>>
>>86407993

the problem is we're a capitalist society and trying to get people to subsidize movies so they don't go out of business isn't going to work.

Media technology will sweep away old traditions due to either expense or changing habits.

You won't get the same theater experience like movie theaters, but it'll be less dangerous, cheaper and more convenient to use home entertainment.

People needing a reason to go out has saved movies but that won't save the industry. It has a ceiling now on what can be achieved, even with the world market.
>>
Considering theaters make their money on 7 dollar boxes of Skittles, this isn't exactly as generous as you think
>>
>>86408091
oh yea even the dipshit rundown theaters started doing assigned seating in my area, fuck you I don't want to be forced to sit in the front 2 rows just because I didn't show up an hour early

Supply and demand would not allow it
>>
>>86408185
Then buy the ticket online you fucking mongoloid. I like not having to cross my fingers for 4 seats next to one another in a decent area.
>>
>>86408185
It's worst when you don't go on an opening weekend, most of the time most theaters are less than 50% full. But now you're stuck sitting right next to people you don't know because you have an assigned seat.
>>
I never go to the movies more than once a month. Hell, sometimes I go a year without going. Honestly I hate the theater environment, inconsiderate parents bringing children to adult movies, teenagers making noise and using their cellphones, morons taking 5 trips to the concession stand throughout the movie. I'm surprised the industry lasted this long.
>>
I pay 22,50€ for this already, 3D and VIP inclusive.
Basically every movie and every seat is free for me.
>>
>>86408327

Why are americans so retarded?

Can't you guys just reserve your place like normal people?
>>
>>86408382
I get a much more enjoyable experience in the comfort of my home, and with modern technology I get much better visual/audio quality than anything a theater can produce.
>>
>>86407993
Nope, I would have saved over $200 since I last went.
>>
>>86408439

Laziness and bad planning, spur of the moment shit.

Any of the above. We have a long tradition of changing our minds and going to movies after going out to eat without planning it and if you don't plan in advance, how would you reserve it in advance?

etc etc
>>
>>86407993
Well, that way they'd get $120/a more out of me than they do currently.

And you know they'll keep fucking you at the concession stands.
>>
>>86408439
I'm american and I've been in theaters all over the country and never once have I seen assigned seating. No singles policy is WAY more prevalent.

I used to love going to the cinema. It sucks but I think you're right.

A few months ago there were 4 teenage boys sitting in the front rows taking selfies with the flash on for about 20-30 minutes, thankfully the usher finally came and kicked their asses to the curb. What the fuck is wrong with people?
>>
>>86408403
Because you're a fag?
>>
Sure. During big movie months it would be worth it.

If you have to shell out $120 all at once for a year's pass then no.
>>
>>86408489
Why would you go then, if you dont go now?
>>
>>86408439
>dirty foreigner thinks he's superior
That's cute
>>
>>86407993
I'm not giving $120 a year to theaters. Not with the current blockbusters and shitload of capeshit. It'd be more of a waste than my gym membership.
Netflix and their ""brilliant"" ideas can fuck off.
>>
Yeah, I'd go see every movie that came out. I like the atmostphere of the theater.
>>
>>86408496
>No singles policy
is it what i think it is?
>>
In Poland one cinema chain has this already - it costs about 10 bucks a month and you can go to see any 2D movie as many times as you want - just have to book a seat, date and time. Only catch - you have to subscribe for a year.

And they give you a card registered in your name so you can't lend it your friend.
>>
>>86408530
It makes it easier.
Just go anytime you like, wave your kino pass and enjoy.

If people are reluctant to spend money at your business you have to make it as easy as possible for them to enjoy your services.

That's why people pay for one click hosting accounts even though it's piracy.
All the movies all the time, it's just so damn convenient.
>>
>>86407993
This already exists in the UK but it's like £18 per month. If there were 2-3 movies worth going to every month it would be worth it, but there's hardly one film every month that's any good.
>>
>>86408618
If you think that it's "You aren't allowed into a theater if you're by yourself" then yes. It makes sense honestly, it's like not allowing an adult into chuck e cheese without a child

Salmon risotto, bottle of lambrusco, leather la-z-boy, 80 inch 4k display, bose 5.1 surround sound speakers, pass the popcorn membership.

Why the fuck would I ever spend money going to some greasy smelly pigpen? This shit can't die off soon enough.
>>
>>86408662
Is it to prevent shootings?
>>
>>86407993
$0/month to watch unlimited movies in my ownhome
>>
>>86407993
Probably not, Tickets cost $2-3 and I just go 2-3 times at most per month (Usually once every 2-3 months). Now if they make a pay $40-50 and get all snacks you want, that it's something I will gladly pay.
>>
>>86408748
yeah but we have to wait for good print.
>>
>>86408708
Yeah, but there's a lot of theaters in open carry states that are implementing a program where if you have a concealed carry permit you can register with the theater and they'll let you in by yourself, one because you need a background check for the permit and 2 it's free security for the theater.
>>
Even if it was $120/year, that's a good deal for how much I go. I get what they're playing at, they want it to be like a gym membership where lots of people sign up but most people rarely go. Well, I'd go. That makes 8-10 saved for every single film I see, which is usually like 20-25 or more a year.

You don't have blow all your money at the concession stands. Just bring stuff in with you if you need drinks or candy.
>>
What's the problem?
Cinemas make very little on ticket sales. Most of their money comes from advertising and food sales.

>The UK has had this scheme for 15 years.
>>
>>86407993
It would be a nice option but it would definitely lead to film production becoming even more samey than it already is, making it also much easier for the Judaical Executives Worldwide to press their propaganda. Just look at Netflix "Originals" and fathom how the world would be if all of cinema is like it.
>>
>>86408811
sounds like a reasonable compromise.
>>
>Ask friend to go see new movie
>It's 3D so 30€ + snacks and beer for both of us

30€? To see a movie? How much is the 2D?
>>
>>86408915
Cinema memberships already exist.
>>
I honestly don't get what all you guys find so abhorrent about theaters. I only ever see movies at my Bowtie on Tuesday when it's $7 (used to be $6 till a month or so ago) and theoretically the low price should bring out the worst but I've never had a bad experience. Even when there were amped up highschool kids making a ruckus right in front of me they all shut up once the movie started. The only time I've had the stereotypical people screaming at the screen was when I went to see Get Out in midtown manhattan. And honestly it added to the experience, wouldn't have laughed as much as I did if I saw it at home.
>>
>>86409012
I mean 30 for two. 2D is like 13 eurinos per ticket.

>>
>>86408962
I honestly don't understand how people don't like assigned seating. I love not showing up right after the trailers start and still having a decent seat in the back saved for me.
>>
New films are shit, so no
>>
>>86407993

Not bad honestly. A few movie theaters around my area have remodeled and the seats are really comfy.

Might consider it, but I don't know how they're they're going to make money off this since even if you're going just once a month the movie theaters will be losing money.

Also this sounds pretty good idea, though there is probably something I'm missing
I don't really go see more than 2 to 4 movies a year in theaters and that basically means the theaters get maxmium of whooping 40 dollars out of me in a year
But I would keep this kinda subscription running all year

>>
I'd probably go to the movies more often if such a thing were to happen.
I think it's a good idea but no studio would go for it.
>>
>>86408635
helios, right?
>>
Does this work at Regal Cinemas?
>>
>>86407993
Not that crazy, really. Who is going to the movies more than once a month any way? Most people don't go to the movies every month so this offer would probably increase revenue. Only way it wouldn't is if there are movie addicts who go every day and those make up most of the profits. I doubt that.
>>
If the plan was $0 a year to watch all the movies I want, I doubt I would accept it. Hollywood is dying with the sequels/prequels/reboots and I can't remember the last time I was hyped to watch a movie.
The last original movie I watched on theater was The Witch and that shit was cheaper to produce than a Colgate ad.
>>
>>86408699
Kinda this. The quality in cinema is way worse than on good high end tv nowadays.
>>
>>86410115
I see a movie maybe once a month, twice if I'm lucky since most things at the cinema are trash.
>>
>>86407993
Tickets here cost $12, so it'd still be saving me money to just buy it on months that good stuff comes out, and then just watch all the crappy movies afterwards.
>>
>>86407993
Maybe if it was valid for our cinema that shows classic movies instead of new ones. Otherwise no. There is less than one good new movie per month nowadays.

>>
>>86409549
I still feel a little bad about this one time that I accidentally cancelled some guy's game in my theater's arcade. I was waiting for him to finish playing Time Crisis so I could play with my friend, and when he died and walked off, I walked up and started a new game without thinking. I saw him throw his hands up while standing next to the token machine out of the corner of my eye, and then he walked off.
>>
>>86410497

>>
I mean just look at all of the great stuff this month

Honestly i'd probably buy one month during award season then cancel it
>>
>>86407993
I go to the movies usually twice a month. 3 times if something good is out. And I always go on a Tuesday or Wednesday between 4 and 5 because that's when the tickets are cheap and no one else goes to the movies at that time except a few old people. I'd probably still sign up anyway, even if it's only saving me 2 bucks a movie.

>>
How do I check which theaters around me are participating? This sounds interesting but the problem is most movies suck and there's droughts of decent films throughout the year
>>
>>86410697
The only time I had a problem in a theater is when I saw Suicide Squad and a bunch of gay white kids kept talking throughout the movie. It sucked, but they just made it worse. But where I am, cheap day is only Tuesday, that's when they sell the old snacks and watered down drinks for 5 bucks. Everyday between 4 and 5, tickets are always 6 bucks. I like to wait a week after the movie's release to see it so I can sit in an empty theater.

>>86410771

>>
>>86407993

I might try it for a few months just so I could go to the cinema more often. These days I just don't bother and get the BD when it gets out. Cinemas are expensive and filled with annoying people, but a deal like this might get me to go see more films there.

If it's unlimited I might as well go see the other films out that I otherwise wouldn't be that interested in and be pleasantly surprised.

Literally one asshole could ruin your first experience of the best movie you'll ever see in your life.

Disregard the cost, why would you watch movies with a crowd of potential assholes? No one cares about how you feel. No one is respectful. I'm not paying a goddamn penny for that. The only reason I have gone in the past 10 years is because others have paid for me to go with them, and I didn't want to be rude.
>>

theres no justification for how much it costs to see films these days, prices more than doubled in the last 10 years but the average person didn't get twice as rich

Doesn't this already exist? Or is this new to the US? I'm from Europe and big cinema chains already offer this kind of stuff.
I have some friends who have some sort of subscription to the local chain of cinemas. Don't know how much they pay but they basically break even if they see three films per month. They usually see every film out at the moment and often go see their favourites two or three times.

It's not for me though. Cinema seats are uncomfortable as hell (especially for a tall guy like me), other people constantly make noise/talk to each other. They don't even do a break anymore. How long do you think I can hold up my piss, man?
>>
>>86412706
Where do you live where people are constantly shitting up the theater? I've seen I believe 7 movies in theaters so far this year, and the only negative thing was some retard trying to clap when the civilian fleet came in in Dunkirk (and he stopped immediately when nobody else did and he realized his autism).

I don't think you understand. In Europe you still choose where you sit except seats and rows have numbers. For example lets say there are 30 rows and row 1 is the one closest to the screen. When you buy or reserve your ticket you can choose where you sit. Like row 15, seats 20 and 21. So you can buy/reserve early and get the best seats. Now when you go to your seats and somebody is in them you know they aren't sitting there rightfully so you either show them your tickets and tell them to scram or you go get somebody who works there if they refuse to. You choose where you sit when you buy your ticket instead of when you enter the room which is far more comfortable because you don't have to find good seats when it's already half full and more people are coming. You know exactly where you sit and that's pretty neat.
>>
>>86414444
wait, Americans don't have numbered seats? oh hahahahah
>>
No. I fucking hate theaters.
The only way I can watch films is if I'm watching them alone or watching them with someone who is capable of shutting the fuck up for the duration of the film. I want to completely absorb the experience.
People talking/making noise/generally being active around me while I'm watching a film bring my blood to a fucking boil. Hence I don't get invited to movie nights by friends anymore.

the average length of movies is 100 minutes
worldwide there's about 2,577 movies released each year since the 1900s
that's roughly 7 movies each day

there's been 42,960 days since the start of the 1900s
that's 61,862,400 minutes, or 1,031,040 hours, let's say you're 20 years old right now and you live to be 90 years old, that's 70 years (25,550 days) worth of movie watching .
that means you have to watch 2420 minutes ( ~40 hours) of movies per day

add to that the 700 minutes (~12 hours) of movies you have to watch each day, to keep up with the amount of movies being produced and distributed each day, you have to watch 31 movies every single day (1.3 movies every hour)

Can't wait to be paying multiple theater chains for exclusive movies until it costs just as much as a vanilla movie theater. I'll pass.
>>
Anyone else pick up girls at the cinema?
>>
>>86407993
Hell no. That shit will attract poor people and shitskins and I hate watching kino with loud ass black people.

>and never once have I seen assigned seating
What the fuck kind of backwards world is America?
>>

>The assigned seating thing is fucking annoying

The fuck are you on about? I'm upset it took people this long to start using technology right so I could get a good seat online and show up to the theater leisurely, not 30 min beforehand just to get a good spot.
>>
Fuck yes the app finally went through. For me, $120 for a year of cinema is so worth it. /excited/

i had to lookup if a no singles policy was actually real before buying this

Did you check the theater list at all? I can't check and am scared it won't allow my local theater. It's not super indie or anything but they don't even allow buying your tickets on Fandango before so I'm slightly scared MoviePass won't be there

Can't long term if you fail half way

My local theater is a Regal, so I looked it up and previous users have said it works at both that chain and AMC. I imagine it hasn't changed.

I work in the theater industry at the corporate level and I won't bore you with the details, but assigned seating does monumental things for a theater's profits for a variety of reasons and any theater company that is not actively working to make all their theaters have assigned seating is fucking retarded. Sorry you don't like it, most of the feedback about it outside of /tv/ is positive.
>>
>love watching movies
>hate going to the movie theater
>have a home theater and an internet connection
>haven't set foot in a movie theater in years

Creative Destruction, lots of things that existed before the internet are no longer viable. Movie theaters are not immune.

Instead of one Ghostbusters 2016 made for $150 million, make lots of small films. Many great films had small to medium budgets during their time. In every era where great films were made, there were just a lot of films made.

So a few Hollywood (((executives))) make less money, it's not a crime against humanity.

if you're serious then keep pushing assigned seating, if I could buy a ticket a day or two in advance and be guaranteed good seats I'd go to the theater with my family more.
>>
>>86407993

wait is this included with your home netflix?

I've been using Limitless which is what the Odeon Cinemas have been calling this type of thing and it's great. Sounds like a shill but I've saved a ton of cash. Stuff like this is pretty great if you go the cinema often.

All the major theater companies are in something of an arms race to get all of, or at least their most important theaters reclined, which also typically comes with assigned seating. Outside of smaller chains, I would expect nonassigned seating to be nearly extinct within five years.
