I already said the "thruthfulness to the source material" has a value of literally ZERO to me. I only care about the TV show as its own independent work. You (or someone else) pointed out Orwell. 1984 wasn't lighthearted and colourful yet still pulled off the satire of authoritian dystopia and how our current society is already slipping towards it perfectly, maybe better than anyone else has done. Fahrenheit 451 did the same thing.

I don't understand why you see it as a requirement for the premise to work.

Cool designs but they'll end up being set bound if they run with it. The original Dredd film was that big miniature city and there were no real locations they could find to fit that look. The recent Dredd could film on locations cos they didn't go too far with it. It's the difference between the sets on Batman 1989 and the locations of Dark Knight. Unless they go with blue screen locations which will be shitty on a tv budget.
