Its pretty good, but like anything, dont over hype it
>>
>>86374957

Yes, it's fucking quality shit
>>
It's pretty good. Villain is a bit of a let down. It's certified kino though.
>>
Yes,it's fucking fantastic. It's biggest flaw is being only 8 episodes long

>ywn watch true detective for the first time again.
>>

its better than most, but you have to endure Pizzolato jerking off to the dialogue in a mirror
>>
>>86375048
Holy shit, someone on tv called something fucking fantastic?

I need to watch this shit
>>
>>86374957
It's amazing until the last episode. The ending soured me on an otherwise A+ show.
>>
The first four episodes and the first half of 5 are pretty much perfection. It takes a nosedive from there, but still worth the watch until the end.

The ending of episode 3 is probably one of my favourites ever.

tfw no rust bf
>>
>>86375122
Out of interest why is it perfection?
>>
It's probably one of the most-overrated seasons in TV history, but it's not bad.
>>
>>86375218
the extremely talented director's style meshes with the writing impeccably and the performances are good
>>
>>86375218
The right combination of story, mood and sequence. Hard to say why I make the division at half of ep 5 without delving into spoilers, but you'll see what I mean. It's a clear half-point in the story, I think.

Anyway, yeah, it's worth a watch.

I hate faggots like you

go away

pure, pure kino
so kino in fact, that even though i was disappointed by the ending, it retains it's kino-ness for me. i would have ended the show about 10 minutes earlier, and you've got it, perfect.

season 2 however, was so bad that i dropped it after 2 episodes

Season 2 was a big step down, but I never lost interest. I'm excited for Season 3.
>>
I'll interrupt this inevitable circlejerk with a bit of criticism.

I don't enjoy tv shows, so everybody recommended me the first season of TD because it's more of a "mini-series", not a tv show for them.
Well for me the experience was exactly like any other tv show, unenjoyable.

The primary focus is on the written narrative and nothing else, the repetitive structure, countless exact same establishing shots and shots of a car entering a location, countless "let's go to a bar for a beer" exposition dialogues, every episode has to end with a cliffhanger, every episode has one big moment where it all builds up to, countless twists and turns which result in a total disinterest in who is the actual killer by the end of the season etc

Like any other tv show.
After the fifth episode I had to make myself watch the rest of the season, I didn't even care who is the killer after all the edgy twists and turns, I just wanted it all to end. Most of the time you don't even have to look at the screen, the back to back camerawork in dialogues get's so overused that you can basically just listen to the conversation without even watching the screen and grasp all the information you need because the written narrative is the main thing here, while in film it's the visual narrative. It's pretty clear that Television is primarily a producers medium.
So I stick to film.
>>
>>86374957
It is pure kino only because the themes and dialogues are ripped-off straight from the works of Ligotti.
>>
>>86375421
Bro do you wanna fuck or something?
>>
turn subtitles on mcconahugehakfj mumbles like a fuktard throughout the whole season
>>
>>86374957
it does. now watch it, faggot.
>>
>>86376808
>i dont enjoy tv shows
stopped reading there
>>
>>86374957
It's great, but the ending is not as good as the rest of the show.
>>
its kino, watch it. /tv/ required viewing
>>
>>86377382
Television is an inferior form of a visual medium compared to film. Fact.
