Is there actually anyone out there who didn't like the new planet of the apes?
I feel like the movie gets praised for being heavy, but that doesn't automatically makes the movie good.
Spoilers:
That might be just personal taste, but i simply didn't like the fact that the 3rd movie played in that concentration camp, which felt a little like the part from the first movie, with ramped up drama.
I also liked how the first part of the movie was basicly a development of the main ape, and was about "how much can a man/ape take without turning cruel", but that camp part stopped this development.
Also: what was up with the final fight-scene? The people let the apes build a wall right in front of a petrol container? They must have known that the other army will attack them with helicopter, so basicly, even if caesar didn't throw that grenade to blow up everything. One rocket from the helicopter would be enough to destroy their whole camp

I haven't watched it yet because the 2nd film was godawful

>We're using the apes as slave labour to build a big wooden wall
>not to defend against hordes of apes which is the only thing this would be conceivably effective against, but another human army using helicopters, tanks and artillery
>we're also a military unit but we have no concept of fucking sentries for our front gate
>also, despite being a military unit, only one guy is watching the cage and he's going to get baited inside the cage full of apes with the keys lmao
I can't believe I was tricked into watching this

did any of the new ape movies make a lot of money? i'm just curious because i don't see the appeal.

yeah, they all did good

Wow, this movie was so fucking blunt in every fucking way. Even the 2nd one was deeper (at least in my memory, watched it only once) imho.
Need to rant a little, because I just saw it yesterday:
First off, there is A LOT if stupid shit concerning logic and realism. >>86295047
Is not even half of that shit. But even that aside, it's still fucking atrocious. The movie rambles on forever, where it pretends to be deep, but nothing actually gets delivered.
Worst scenes (disregarding the plain stupid stuff) powerranking:
>1.
The Schinlder's List scene, where the bad guy watches over his camp, while shaving. I'm not offended by symbols or holocaust or anything, but this is just so cheap, it hurts.
>2.
The allusions to heart of darkness/apocalypse now. Not THAT bad, but I love the book and the movie, so it's a personal one.
>3.
The burning US flag in the final battle. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind flags burning in general. But it's a strong/obvious symbol that, in this case, gets delivered in such a blunt and pointless way. It's actually the perfect symbol for the whole movie, in it's blunt enforcement of meaning/deepness.
>powergap
>the fucking virus
It was a stupid but maybe necessary plot device, but why delve in it this fucking much?
>the stupid fucking ending
The takes forever doing nothing, only barely explaining the motivations of the 2 human factions and literally rocks-fall-everybody-dies them. Without adding anything to the story obviously.
>'The wall won't save him.'
I also dislike Trump, but this is quite the opposite of deep/clever/whatever...

I ususially trey take cheap blockbusters too serious and enjoy them for what they are, but this one just takes itself way too serious. And because it does that in such a massive and mind numbing way, people actually think it's serious or deep (I guess).
>>
such a disappointment, and a huge tonal shift in negative way, crap film, although the opening battle was really good, cgi is up to standard but of course they turned it into close-up porn.
>>
yeah. the 1/3 of the film were actually good. nice build up and stuff´. the rest was crap
>>
The writers of the first two movies did not write the third
>>

I didn't think it was the masterpiece that people claim it is. There were some great scenes and I'm glad they didn't go full transformers with the action, but overall it neither toed the line between action and character progression as well as Dawn did nor committed fully to being totally character based as the Koba dream stuff would have you think. I feel like they made a three, three and a half hour film and then rushed the shit out of the second half in editing because they realized modern audiences don't have the patience for the kinds of old, long-as-hell epics they were trying to evoke. Also hated the forced humor and retarded character choices. Effects were neat as always.

I'm personally baffled by how much Wholesome Jewish Apes: the Movie seems to be praised. It's not even close to being the best movie in the franchise.
