Pitch Black is the first one. Chronicles of Riddick takes place after Pitch Black, and Riddick is after that. The whole space empire shit isn't that great, but they are meant to be watched in that order. Riddick references Pitch Black a lot, too.

As a non did hard fan of Riddick, you can watch just the movies and it works well enough. The games, anime and books (or whatever) don't have any affect on the movies.
