was the first movie good enough to warrant a sequel?

Not only was it good enough to warrant a sequel, but it's one of the few movies approved for a sequel because of how much the fans demanded one.

finding nemo was completely self contained, never needed a sequel, yet got one

cars never needed a sequel, yet got 2

toy story never needed 3 fucking sequels either, but toy story 4 is in production as we speak

incredibles is literally the only pixar movie that should have gotten a sequel

Except that wasn't a sequel hook. I mean obviously it can easily be used as one. But that wasnt the intent, it's just a final scene that shows the audience where the family is at now, they became more comfortable with themselves and each other and are prepared to be superheroes again (or for the first for the kids).

Though I agree that it probably had more grounds for a follow up than the others (except toy story)
