The line of movies with Daniel Craig started out so well and had the perfect set up for a growing world and an overarching narrative with Casino Royale. Then the writers strike happened and botched Quantam of Solace and put it in preproduction hell with numerous rewrites. It took far to long for sequel to even get made. The hype from Casino had already died and it wasn't anywhere as good. Sky fall was good but you could see they had lost focus already and weren't going in the direction that Casino Royale had set up. Fucking travesty of what could of been an era of superb Bond films. Kino lost to the imagination of possibilities.
I expect an era of horribly campy bond films akin to the Roger Moore era after Craig is finished. We should all Expect schlock.
Idris Elba
Quantum of Solace was a hot fuckin mess, not sure about Spectre though I fell asleep halfway through
the one with chigur in it was pretty good from what I remember
If he has signed up for two more that he's equalled Connery's run hasn't he? That would make him the second best Bond...after Dalton.

Holy shit! Wrong! Pierce is easily the 2nd best bond. And that's my nostalgia glasses speaking.
Connery is of course always the best.

What about him? You mention a name and say nothing else. WHAT DO YOU MEAN ANON!?
But schlocky Bond is the best Bond. Yeah some of it got pretty fucking unbearable but there was a good balance for a while. Go back and watch the Connery films again even. Half of the time those movies consist of him just fucking WALKING AROUND. Or at least doing spy shit without DUNDUNADUN jason bourne music playing over every scene.
I liked Casino Royale a lot but the rest of the Craig films have been trying to have it both ways. IMO many of the aesthetic tropes of Bond (flashy intros, big orchestral cues) work better when the movie is a bit more light in the step. Otherwise it just becomes a weird mishmash of tone or glib facsimile.

this is really pathetic and you know it

I admire the balance the Connery films had of schlock mixed with serious and smart detective work and gadget play. They came off as being theatrically fantastical. Well crafted b flicks with ocassionally great story telling and moments. From Russia with love perhaps has the best balance and is my favorite of the bunch.
By the the time Roger Moore rolled around they had become far to corny. The acting, stories, set and action pieces had become so absurd and cheesy it was almost cringey. It was bad B movie fare. I recall my first viewing of Live And Let Die and how I had a strong urge to just shut the movie off during that overly long and drawn out boat chase scene in the bayaou which was broken up by poor attempts at humor by the terrible sherif character. Then it ended so lame and anti-climactic.
