Man I hope they just cover both short story books in one season. Some of them aren't super relevant and I don't wanna have to wait 2 more seasons before seeing all the other interesting recurring characters like Triss, Vilgefortz, Geralt's Hanse, the Lodge etc.

I'd personally like them to cover the important short stories of the first two books for like 80-90% of the season (assuming it's like 12 episodes or something) then end with the beginning of Blood of Elves to tease the main saga for season 2. Would also help draw in more viewers than a disjointed, kinda closed off first season.

I disagree. Separating them and doing each book by season would help put emphasis on the passage of time. One of the reasons why the first TV series didn't work was because they threw in bits of the first two books in it's singular season. Keeping them separate would really help with immersion.

I feel like the first season could dedicate an episode each to:

The Witcher (Striga story)
The Lesser Evil (Butcher of Blaviken)
A Question of Price (Duny, Pavetta etc.)
The Last Wish (Meeting Yen)
The Bounds of Reason (Golden Dragon)
A Shard of Ice (Geralt and Yen relationship drama)
The Sword of Destiny (Meeting Ciri)
Something More (The other Ciri story)

Maybe mix in some smaller short stories like A Grain of Truth (Nivellen and that vampire woman), A Little Sacrifice (King and the water creature, Essi Daven) and The Edge of the World (with the Sylvan annoying the nearby village) in the same episodes if they cover them quickly, assuming each episode is an hour long.

Rest of the season could be a time jump to Blood of Elves with Ciri at Kaer Morhen, introducing Triss, the Witchers etc. and ending on the introduction of Rience with Dandelion and clashing with Yennefer before escaping.

Netflix almost never cancels a show after a single season, they're usually quite forgiving and give a show some time to form before dumping it if it goes nowhere.

Also worth noting the short stories are actually quite short. One book in a season won't really have much content, hence why I mentioned how you could even squeeze 2 short stories into an hour. They'd definitely have to pad out some of the episodes if it was just one short story per episode.

The Striga story isn't actually that complex and could easily be covered in like 30-35 minutes. It's literally just Geralt meeting Foltest, getting told what the problem is and the background, then he deals with the Striga. That's it. With 25-30 minutes left you could easily transition into A Grain of Truth. In that it's basically Geralt running into Nivellen's mansion, chatting with him over dinner and getting suspicious, staying nearby overnight, then confronting Vereena and leaving with Nivellen. The chapters in the book are actually back to back as well.

There's only really 6-7 short stories in The Last Wish, with each one probably not even able to fill out an hour. That wouldn't be enough for a season.

Platige Image presented some storyboards with scenes from The Witcher short story. So yeah, they're starting with the Last Wish.
