Was it really that bad?

No, not at all.
It was the first Star trek anything I seen and i found it good enough that it got me into the franchise.
Out of the four TNG movies...
First Contact
Generations/Insurrection
Nemesis

No, just how Kirk went out
Leonard Nimoy thought so. He wanted to work out the problems in the script and be part of the film but they said they didn't have time to fix it and still make their release date.
It was a 2.5-3 / 5, there was potential for it to be much better. I do enjoy seeing the Enterprise D filmed in its full glory, second best TNG after First Contact.
Basically everything Plinkett said about it is true
Crusher was qt as fuck in it. Can't be that bad.
Much better than Final Frontier, that one was ass

It was kino though. Not kidding, I can watch it for the cinematography alone. I don't know how much Shatner had to do with it but I like to think he has a good eye.

Yes
It's literally the worst Trek film
>>86214396
Yes. It's the worst Trek film.
It's godawful. I was so disappointed when this came out. I went in unspoiled and couldn't wait to see Kirk on the Enterprise D, and interacting with Data and the rest of the crew.

insurrection is shit, SHIT.

Kirk wouldn't have survived anyways. The TNG cast was 70 years later kirk would've been over 100 years old

It has missed opportunities written all over it.
