Compelling characters in compelling circumstances informed by compelling backstories leading compelling lives. I realized in 2012 that I was watching the greatest soap opera ever.

So once I got curious about Maylyn Monroe so I got my hands on a copy of The Seven Year Itch (1955). Literally the entire plot of the movie is that this guy's family is out of town for a few weeks and he's tempted to cheat with Marylin. He feels guilty though so he resists, but this results in him going insane. Like I mean stark raving mad. The moral of the story is literally and explicitly that not cheating on your wife is bad for you, and only weirdos feel guilty about it. I guess before hippies invented casual sex that was just the way it was.

You seem miserable anon, what's wrong?
