>>
>>86207294
I clapped at watchmen sex scene.
>>
>>86207294
I've never done this. Who does? Who is the applause even directed towards, the actors on the screen? The protectionist?
>>
>>86207504
it's directed at autists who think clapping is only used to applaud someone and feels euphoric about their enlightenment against social norms. inb4 you're euro and euros are more reserved and intellectual, no one cares.
>>
I probably stopped participating this the year The Dark Knight Rises came out, and maybe to that movie specifically.

I was in my seat waiting for the movie, and some woman in the row ahead of me said "What? Another one of these??" when the trailer for Man of Steel came on. Came out of that show much more cynical about normies for sure!
>>
midnight screening of the last Harry Potter movie desu senpai was a fun time lots of clapping
>>

Avatar in IMAX 3D
>>
Avatar. Mostly because the whole theater stood up and began applauding, and I didn't want to be ''that guy'' in front of my girlfriend at the time.
>>
I've never clapped or been in a theater with clapping.
>>
>>86207504
It's directed toward the same people applause is directed toward during a live performance: the other members of the audience.

You don't understand what clapping is.
>>
>>86207294
The only movie I remember the audience applauding to was Revenge of the Sith.
>>
Most recent time I heard an audience clap was at the end of Power Rangers. Bunch of autists on opening night and some sheep with idle hands.

No one has ever clapped in any theater I've ever been in. The only thing that's ever happened was one guy started shouting at the end of the Evil Dead remake. Though he might have been mentally ill.
>>
>went to Transformers 2 as a high schooler with my girlfriend
>worst movie I've ever sat through
>entire audience applauds at the end
>drag my girlfriend out of the theater
>she gets mad at me for being so angry that people clapped for that horseshit
>puts a strain on our relationship for weeks after
>>
fuck you rlm shill
>>
The Dark Knight

the whole theater was clapping

>be proud American
>decide to go to cineplex to see new Star Wars
>$25 ticket, but it's in IMAX, so whatever
>grab a burger from the concessions stand
>$30, what a bargain
>hand my ticket stub to the ticket taker
>he gives me my 3D glasses and complimentary revolver and tells me to go to auditorium 15
>make my way to the door, theater attendant is there
>show him my ticket, he nods
>a couple of melanin youths try to sneak into the movie
>he pulls out his work AK and immediately shoots them on sight
>guess they have to justify prices somehow
>the hour of trailers start rolling as I make my way into my XXL seat
>audience claps at the end of each trailer
>movie finally begins
>several whoops and hollers, some celebratory gunfire
>audience claps at the end of each scene
>full on standing ovation when Han Solo comes on screen
>more celebratory gunfire
>shit, that gunfire's not celebratory
>it's the designated theater shooter
>we gun him down and continue watching
>claps escalate to each time the film cuts
>by the time we get to Han Solo's death, the entire audience only releases one synchronized, thunderous clap
>21 gun salute for Han Solo
>credits roll
>entire theater breaks out into an orgy
>mfw

I have never heard of this. I personally have never felt that, while being in an audience, the clap was for us, but always as intended for showing appreciation of a performer.

I started it at the end of Logan and the whole theater followed suit
>They took the bait
>>
>>86207294
the only acceptable way to clap and applaud to a movie is if you want the person/people that did it to see that you appreciated it. that's why there are ovations in cannes, not in your shitty local theater.

It was at the Century 21 theater in San Jose on opening night. We had.to wait in line forever and we were late. We ended up sitting in the first row, staring up at a mountain.

So that's my story now fuck off.
>>
>>86210101
>I started banging my fat, greasy, autistic hands together for a second, noticed people were staring at me and stopped
>>
>>86207504
>not going to the theater shit faced
what's wrong with you?
>>
Django Unchained is the only one. I clapped when Tupac started blasting through the speakers all the way to the end.
>>
>>86210586
You clapped for 45 minutes straight?
>>
>>86207294

The only time I've seen people clap at a movie it was The Killing Joke. I joined in because, eh, why not?
>>
>>86210723
Seriously?

I was in the avant premiere of return of the king and people howled at the end, I'm not even american.
>>
>>86207294
Never. I'm not an americlap
>>
American Sniper tbqh

fuck those jihadis
>>
>>86207294
I, and the whole theater, clapped when some loud mouth faggot got escorted out. Got to finish the movie in peace, and a free ticket to whatever other movie I wanted to see.
>>
>>86207294
I don't think I've ever done that, at the end. But, if something is making me laugh enough to slap my knee, I will sometimes do a single hard clap in place of that. I don't know if I've ever done it, but I must've; I've seen funny movies in the theatre.
>>
>>86212561

What did he do?
>>
I barely even go to the theater. Generally I don't have a problem just waiting for decent rips in exchange for getting to watch a movie at home. I went to go see The Nice Guys. Not for the movie, though. I liked it, though. Didn't clap because that's weird.
