Yeah, I noticed the same thing. Everyone hated Blockbuster (maybe unless there was no local alternative) back in the day. There was even a website specifically dedicated to Blockbuster hate. My guess is that all of the nostalgia is coming from people who can't remember how terrible they were, or who were too young to deal with their bullshit.

Am I crazy to think that if Dish or whoever owns the rights now opened a few locations in major cities, they would probably do okay? Nostalgia culture is huge right now and there's tons of interest online in old Blockbusters. They could even sell stuff like Surge and Dunkeroos and shit there to establish it as a nostalgia trip store.

St. Vinnies op shop.

Picked up a few now out of print DVDs cheap when they were closing down. Got a DVD buffer/repairer machine thing worth about a grand that works really well for nothing 'cause they were just gonna throw it out.

A crab leg kino shop.

So many mattress stores and phone stores. Why do they pop up like urban plight mushrooms?

I would go to the hood/redneck part of town sometimes with friends and there's a small shop owned by a Chinese guy where you can rent movies. Has snacks and a gumball machine. Doesn't feel the same though, especially with the Chinese music in the background.

Never had an attachment to 2000s shows. Shit's hokey as fuck. The only quality movie I can think of from that decade was Inglourious Basterds.

One of those shops where you can buy old people mobility scooters :/

This, And after Halloween they get some new doomed business in and fail and it reverts to a halloween store 6 months later.

Family Video, they even keep the store layout the same, it's very nostalgic. I still rent video games from there.

It was split into two; a pet store and a bank.

These niggers are thriving in the US, somehow. Something to do with sly real estate management plus really low prices.

A 7/11. Random story but I was actually in the blockbuster when I found out Michael Jackson died. The clerk was losing his shit
