The zombie craze started out amazing: 28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, etc were quality flicks. The Walking Dead was a great comic series. The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z were great books.
Then it started bleeding into everything and got all shitty. Every game needed a "zombie mode" because zombies are easy to program and you don't really have to put much effort into it.

This seemed so obvious in 2004, but with the passing of time I'm not sure that DotD isn't at least on par if not a little bit better than 28 days

The ship being hit is previously been crippled.
And a Small Ship/Large ship doesn't matter as it all depends on how much power the engines have and the DeltaV it has. Tugs going at full speed can move fast, just that you generally go slow for safety reasons.
>>86191480
I could post that as a thread starter and never worry about it bumping.
>>86191504
Large ship was disabled. They are in space. Tiny ship is a hammerhead. It pushes bigger ships. They deployed the hammerhead to push the big disabled ship into the other ship into the forcefield.

do we really need to relitigate this shit?
It doesn't make sense that a space craft the size of a moon can blow up a planet without getting obliterated by all the planet shrapnel as the a large gravitational mass in space with a planet's worth of rocks looking flying at it.
It doesn't make sense that you could have a lazer sword that just stops after a few feet.
It doesn't make sense that they could fly faster than time.
It doesn't make sense that you could deflect a with a fucking melee weapon.
It doesn't make sense that a lazer blaster shoots visible lazers.
So A: whining about physics in Star Wars may be fun but it's also fucking stupid sometimes.
B: could be a loadbearing or reinforced corner of that ship. Almost like they'd probably deploy the thing to hit at the place where it's designated to hit.
The ships are designed to push giant destroyers, like pilot boats and tug boats and shit, which means the giant destroyers are probably designed to be able to be pushed too huh.
>but the first huge ship crashes through the other like it's made of paper
They're overwhelmingly giant space ships. The hull of one is slicing through the top of the other (why ships in space have hulls and tops is a question for a different story)

>even more reasonable to assume 95% of the universe is covered in a convenient dark matter that can't be seen or detected because that's the only way to explain why things are the way they are.
There is no easy explanation for why things are the way they are. That's why desperate idiots cling to fairy tales for comfort. Much easier to just put your faith in some omniscient godmonster that just whipped up existence for us on a lark.
There is no god or gods and time doesn't exist. And that's ok.

Not too far different from desperate idiots clinging to scientific theories for comfort because they don't want to entertain the possibility of other ideas about the origin of life.

I'm not clinging to shit bruh. But between hundreds of years of peer-reviewed academic study and progress under a method designed around seeking objective, observable, and repeatable truths, and some thousands year old religious texts written by idiot desert people, I'm gonna go with the former. Scientific progress isn't an answer. It isn't something that you get to "cling to." When new evidence or findings are discovered in academic study, the academic world readjusts it's assumptions in response. There is no dogma. It's a fluid endless process of advancing the scope of our knowledge. Why would you choose to believe that human intellectual progress peaked back when it was cool if you murdered your kid as long as he was an asshole?
>because they don't want to entertain the possibility of other ideas about the origin of life.
I've "entertained the possibility or other ideas about the origin of life" quite a bit tbphwyf. Took an entire class on it actually. It's hella entertaining. Nothing wrong with "entertaining" wacky old bullshit. It's a different story when you fucking buy it.

I believe there are a couple different versions of the movie, if you see one where the first few minutes are incredibly odd, don't let that make you turn it off because it's not representative of the rest of the movie at all.

Both are pretty good, though I've seen Goats more often. It has a very Coen brothers feel, which honestly is probably mostly because of the cast.

>>86201823
The trailer really did look great and the movie isn't as good.
The opening is pretty strong but it's hampered by a few weak actors (and one terrible one) and it needed to spend a bit less money on realistic monsters (that they don't show as much of as I expected) and more on tightening up the script. I didn't like the ending at all and it went in a completely different direction than I was anticipating.
All in all, it was a decent movie but definitely not what I expected. If you're a horror fan (particularly if you're into some slightly occultish/Lovecraft vibes) you can do worse than this movie but you can also do much better.
It probably warrants a 6-6.5 score from me. I wasn't angry I watched it, just a bit disappointed.

The novel stuff is a 8/10, the real life stuff is 2/10.

> I got together with Special Effects Supervisor Chris Corbould who got his team to build an eight foot by sixteen foot mirror that could be swung shut on a hinge, effectively forming a huge reflecting door. Dneg then got to work on a series of animations that explored the range of what we might be able to get in camera with this rig and we arrived at a series of camera setups which then formed the basis for Chris and Wally’s shooting plan. This gave a great start for us in VFX, but as big as the mirrored door was (it’s size being limited mainly by weight as it was already up to 800 Lbs) we still needed to do a lot of work.
