The fuck? I never realized the hate for White Bear. That was my favorite ep until Shut Up and Dance. Best suspense in the whole series, and it really puts you in the sane experience as the convict.

It's weak both visually and from a plot standpoint. The story is paper thin, and you can see the twist come from a mile away. The setting is boring, the characters have literally zero development, and the whole monologue at the end was just hamfisted declarations of the theme of the episode, something you should never do. There's nothing special about it at all, and really there's just no purpose for it being made.

It sucked because the entire episode was written solely to trick the viewer and made no sense on its own.
Most of the BM episodes fail past a cursory glance because they are implausible and only written to be dark but don't really work as scifi. It's aggravating because they're not that far off from working.
