>Tim Miller(deadpool) to direct Neuromancer movie
Couldn't they get a nonwhite? Whites direct all Sci fi movies and it's bullshit.
>>86169882
This! Whites are so over in film.
>>86169882
op baiting for replies on his thread, sad
>>86169816
Yeah, get a comedy hack to direct a thoughtful slow-burn sci-fi, I'm sure this will work out fine and won't be a huge pile of shit.

Dolph better play Armitage or I'll be pissed
>read the book but didn't understand what they said half the time
>masturbated furiously after reading the sex scene on the tube hotel between case and molly.

>were utter garbage
they weren't
also Bridge trilogy was good
this book was pretty awful anyways desu
>>86169816
>book written in cinematic style, essentially a screenplay
>film adaptation will be steaming shitpile
>>86169816
what did Bill Gibson mean by this?
>>86171223
His twitter is bizarre, all he does is retweeting anti-Trump stuff. I'm not even really pro-Trump or anything, it's just kind of disappointing. He's a very interesting person in the interviews, so I guess I just expected more.
>>86169816
> movie
I'm not happy about this. They're going to butcher it to get it down to 2 hours. It should have been a limited series on HBO or something. Give them time to actually tell the story properly.
>>86170429
It worked for Strange Days.
>>86170832
yeah but it spawned a lot of interesting stuff, and most cyber punk stuff is pretty awful by itself, i haven't seen anything definitive from the genre, so doing right by one of the early novels would be nice but this is just another burner project
Macon Blair for Case.
>>86169816
I love these cyberpunk illustrations. Who does them?
johnny mnemonic will unironically be the closest we'll get to a true neuromancer film, even after this one is made.
>>86171622
strange choice, why him?
>>86171881
Josan Gonzalez (f1x-2 on deviantArt). That's apparently an official cover of a Brazilian edition of Neuromancer he was commissioned to do. His page is full of similar styled stuff.
>>86169816
What you people think of the Chuck Russel script?

>>86171487
Neuromancer is the only definitive cyberpunk novel, that and a few other of Gibson's that are as good or worse. Likewise Bladerunner is the only good cyberpunk movie.
If you've read Neuromancer and seen Bladerunner you've seen /everything/ cyberpunk has to offer
>mfw someone tells me cyberpunk is a good genre when it's barely even a genre at all

>Neuromancer movie
sure. and Half Life 3 is coming out soon.

just what a kekistani would say.
all socmedia is trash anyway.

Gibson is a full time SJW. He grew up in the South, but was a timid little pussy from a young age. He fled the US and went to Canada during the war with Vietnam, where he's been fetishizing the "Other" and sniffing farts with other lefties ever since.
Don't get me wrong, he wrote some good and influential books in the 80s. The Bridge trilogy that he wrote in the 90s was a sharp drop-off in quality, and everything after that has been utter hipster trash. I read Pattern Recognition not long after it came out and decided I'd never read another one of his books ever again, which was a smart move, as online discussion indicates that his books have only gotten even more insufferable.
>>86171990
The Johnny Mnemonic movie is a legit good-bad movie, and Dina Meyer is hot as fuck in it. Hell, she's 48 now and still hot. Absolutely would fuck.
>>86174261
I don't mind him being ultra-leftist though. He's an interesting person and I like his essays and interviews. The twitter is disappointing to me not because I necessarily disagree with his views, but because he doesn't really post any interesting opinion of his and just reposts anti-Trump clickbait. It's just retweet-retweet-retweet.
I also really liked Bridge trilogy, so here's that. And that article about Singapore was neat.
>>86172615
Read more.
And Blade Runner is not ciberpunk.
>>86174334
>he doesn't really post any interesting opinion of his and just reposts anti-Trump clickbait. It's just retweet-retweet-retweet.
He might be old, but he's adapted to the modern leftist method of "resisting" quite well, no? That's the thing about Gibson. Like most lefties, effort is foreign to him, and thus slacktivism is his preferred method of making himself feel good about himself.
>>86174350
>Blade Runner is not ciberpunk
Stop huffing computer duster, kiddo.
>>86174647
>effort is foreign to him
He's an active writer, though. Just not on twitter.
>>86174261
I thought The Peripheral was an improvement over his blue ant trilogy stuff.
>>86169816
>Neuromancer movie
Why at this point? Everything that was original about the book has been ripped off countless times by now, it will look hackneyed.
