Disney bought Pixar and had its executives and creatives focus on making Disney Animation Studios great once more and largely left Pixar itself to make tired sequels and the occasional shitty original. Disney bought Marvel and eventually took their movie division from them and largely left Marvel itself to make shitty comics, shows, animation, video games, etc. Why would you not think that after Disney bought Lucasfilm that they would gut Star Wars for all they could?
