I watched Creep and I really liked it. It scared me really good and it was tense. I'm looking for more movies likes this, movies that are scary. I'm not looking for torture porn, but that doesn't mean that violence is not welcome.

Session 9 has a couple of spooky scenes and it's kinda decent.
>>
>>86152405
That was really good anon! More unnerving than scary though.
>>
>>86152405
This movie was cool. Quality payoff.

Here's my Netflix list of good horror:

It Follows
The Babadook
>I know the kid is annoying, WE ALL KNOW
Hellraiser
Scream
Snowtown
Hush
The Wailing
Housebound
Train to Busan
V/H/S (2) (Viral)
The Den
Tucker and Dale v. Evil

That about does it. There are a few others i've heard good things about but haven't seen. Also, there used to be a slow burn on there called Resolution that I loved. Worth seeking out.
>>
Has there ever been a movie that legitimately made you afraid? Not ooh spooky or AH! jump scares. I'm talking actual fear and dread that extended beyond the movie
>>
>>86153215
does tucker and dale even count as horror
>>
>>86153905
OP here, I would say The Mothman Prophecies. It was really unsetling. People often say that it's a thriller more than a horror movie. For me it was scary good.
>>
>>86152405
Is that Knockoff Tom Hardy?
>>
>>86155092
No. Neither is Housebound or Snowtown.
>>
>>86153905
scary movie 3 made me afraid to be alone for months. granted I was only 6
>>
Found footage is cancer and babadook was some of the most insulting garbage. Somehow I think anyone who gives babadook an iota of praise is lying and somehow involved in a conspiracy to piss off actual horror movie fans.

The witch was garbage too, fuck all your shitty movies you think are good, they're not.

we need more movies like the Love Witch, authentic throwbacks to glorious Euro horror of the 60s and 70s

creep didn't scare me, it just made me laugh

Candyman is an underrated one. The killer itself isn't really scary, but the parts were he isn't around are. For example, the grafitti mural is scary as fuck.

>The witch was garbage too
Plebeian detected.
>>
>>86156199
You wanna know what the witch is? It's a turd, a turd placed inside a very nicely decorated box labeled "good horror movie do not open".
>>
>>86156319
I liked it....
>>

Hell House LLC stayed with me after watching it the other night. Found footage, but effective in its spooks.
>>
>>86150143
ive seen over 1,100 films. ive only given 3 films a 1/10 in my life so far and Creep is one of them. ive never seen a movie so antagonistic to its audience, it's a total and abject failure on all fronts and i hate you for reminding of its existence
>>
>>86156374
You're making me feel bad for trashing it.
>>
>>86153905
Eraserhead, Under The Skin, Possession
>>
>>86155813
What are some good horror movies then? Looking for good recent ones.

I don't know, out of all these movies i've been watching recently, there's not a whole lot about them I enjoyed. I know one from 2008, it's fun to watch cause the characters end up bonding and working well together by the end and have to problem solve there way out of situations, it was called Splinter. The only real recent movies I can say something good about have been mentioned already I think.
>>
>>86155438
Yeah he was in the last Spider-man too I think
>>

I thought the first hour or so of Babadook was really well shot and compelling, and very tense. But all of the tension in the movie disappeared when you realize the mother was falling into madness; that is such a boring, overused trope that destroys any mystery (and again, tension). The idea of the babadook monster was disturbing enough on its own, didnt need that dumb plot with the mother losing her insanity.

But I love some of those scenes, like when she's watching the TV, or reading the picture book...The movie sometimes really nails interesting/disturbing imagery
>>
>>86150143

i find that what makes good horror are monsters/sights that are really disturbing or off putting
>>
>>86155863
this tbqh family

also mike flanagan is underrated as a horror director desu, oculus is preddy spooky
