If they're going to do this season the same way, I'm all for the standalone episodes. There just wasn't enough time spent on the mythology, so fun standalone structure will be a good thing.

I don't get it. The revival ended on a huge cliff-hanger and an apocalyptic event potentially killing millions, if not billions of people. How do you scale that all down to quirky monster eps without some massive ass-pulls?

For the record, "giant apocalyptic event" was precisely the wrong angle to take with the new series, but I can sorta understand why they did it.

If you lock Chris Carter in a cage and leave him in the woods while you write and film it, it should be alright. Every episode he's directly involved in is pure dog mess.
