TV-shows are incapable of being "smart". So these comparisons are useless.
Smart person won't watch these to feel intellectually stimulated, they'll watch it to stave off the feeling of boredom and existential crisis.

The only characters in Rick and Morty that are portrayed as intelligent are Rick and Beth, and Rick's scientific genius is basically just magic with test tubes.
