My friend circles are very normie (I played a lot of sports as a kid) and over half of them don't play any video games. The other half plays only NHL or Fifa when drunk or high. Only about 2-3 people I know play games other than EA sports games.

When it comes to /v/ it's even more clear since they don't even discuss EA sports games and very little CoD or battlefield either. I'm looking at the catalogue and it's mostly japshit and some more obscure western titles like path of exile, hellblade or the witness. It's a small portion of the population interested in these games. Almost everyone watches television or films.
