That's one way of doing it (the older way, FUT). Another way is to take out the hair follicles one by one (FUE) rather than a huge strip of skin. More expensive but you don't have some huge disgusting scar. It's what I did. Mine's still there after nearly 3 years. Glad I had it done

Really varies from surgeon to surgeon, whether it's FUE or FUT method, how thick your hairs are, and by how bald you are currently

If you're just slightly receding you'll need a lot less work to regain a full head of hair so it will be cheaper. Going from slick bald to full head of hair will be 5 figures at least

In the US you could probably find a decent surgeon who'll charge ~$3 per graft. If you're a Norwood 3, say, with average hair thickness you'll probably need around 2500 grafts. So $7500 maybe?

Like I said it really varies depending on the specific circumstances. I paid about £10,000 for 4000 grafts and this was IMO the best surgeon in the world
