The Neon Demon is the embrace of self. In a culture that demeans and debases women, the norm is to accept that culture and be participatory in it. It is a culture that is based on the notion that we are perpetually with faults. The treadmill of beauty standards make us chase an ideal that is hard to grasp, and once had, is fleeting. Elle's character, though, rejects this notion. She believes in a notion that is dangerous and threatens the culture she exists in: she is self assured and LIKES herself. It poses a threat to the other models, and like the pharisees of old, deem her dangerous and that she must be killed. If you recall the triangle, it is composed of 4 smaller triangles; the three surrounding the middle - a mirror of the last act confrontation by the pool.
