For all his talk of women being inferior an all that, it seemed like he'd be willing to give Betty an honest go. He used/pittied Ethel, loathed Ron, Midge who?, but Betty he actually cared for on an " between Me and Archie? Me." But he'd never really change and thus, could never be with Betty. But it's not his fault entirely; Betty's too perfect for that world, this world and any world that could be.
