Why are you intentionally being obtuse? The trailer is simply one of the various ways to demonstrate Emmerich cared more about topping JP than honoring Godzilla. Was the John Williams-sque score not enough? Or the not-raptors running around Madison Square Garden? Maybe Emmerich admitting he only ever had disdain for Godzilla?
