How exactly could Godzilla withstand a nuke?
The same way your virginity could withstand being around women.
>>86023732
please dont get personal
>>86023639
Forcefield
>>86023639
The same way he withstands the laws of gravity that would prevent him from existing in the first place.
>>86023851
actually the Japanese versions of Godzilla are structurally sound. That's why he has goofy huge tights.
You realize this is the same monster that shoots an atomic laser out of its mouth, right?
He's basically a walking nuke.
>>86023851
can you explain in what way?
sounds interesting.
>>86023978
How can a nuke stand a nuke blast
Radiation makes it stronger.
>>86023982
Not him, but I assume he means that a creature this size, made from organic matter, would collapse under its own weight
>>86023982
Really? you need that explained? He's too fucking big he would collapse under his weight. (older versions of godzilla are 'possible')
Heavy red pill
Godzilla is the good guy fighting for the earth mankind is the bad guy killing nature and shits
>>86023982
For starters a creatures that size couldn't exist because there isn't enough oxygen in Earth's atmosphere to fuel their growth.
>>86023982
Force field
>>86024036
>>86024061
>>86024085
oh ok
i thought it might be some weird gravity shit i've never heard of
>>86024177
Square-cube law
>>86024085
I don't know if this is just my head cannon, but I'm pretty sure Godzilla metabolizes radiation(or nitrogen,70%), instead of oxygen.
Ask Anno he got this covered 20 years ago
He created a bubble forcefield that can support the creature's weight, power consumption, and many other bullshits you need to make Tokusatsu movie
>>86023966
I know people post this design to laugh it at it but it honestly looks so fucking unsettling
>>86023639
because nukes aren't real
>>86023639
>How exactly could Godzilla withstand a nuke?
By being a metaphor, dumbfuck. Also, US scriptwriters didn't get it. .
>>86024350
It also looks accurate as something that came from the water. The US Godzilla looked like an angry fat desert lizard.
>>86024295
But there is nothing in the movie that indicates that godzilla has any sort of force field
>>86023966
American Godzilla's thighs are big too. That's why people called him Fatzilla.
>>86024439
>it's a metaphor so it doesn't have to make sense
this really triggers me
>>86023639
Easy
>>86024295
And only best girl put it to good use.
>>86023639
>>86023978
>>86024017
Godzilla and the Mutos eat radiation
Godzilla was hit with a nuke and he ate the radiation from the blast.
They said they where going to try again because the nukes they have now have larger explosions with less radiation than the one they tried before.
>>86024641
I don't think I quiet agree with this logic
>humans drink water
>thus if humans get hit by tsunami, they will be fine
How ass blasted are the Japs that we made the best Godzilla movie?
>>86024714
10/10, would kek again
>>86023966
A CUTE!!
>>86024262
You could be right I'm not that knowledgeable on the lore.
>>86024262
Nitrogen is neutral. Radiation beaks DNA.
Godzilla is magic.
I coulda sworn they dropped a nuke on him in one of the flicks and he just absorbed the radiation and grew stronger.
...and when ya see things like this, ya kinda just have to shrug and say, "yeah, sure, whatevs".
>>86024036
>>86024061
Why doesn't mountains collapse on their own weight?
>>86024085
Which is why Godzilla was born in a period where there was enough oxygen to fuel that growth.
>>86024897
but magic has to be consistant, to have some inner logic
I could accept that godzilla isn't affected by the blast of a nuke. but then it doesn't make sense that he is affected by the punch of another kaiju, which is much weaker than nuclear explosion
>>86024536
Welp, congratulations, go and watch Transformers.
>>86025050
2016 version wasn't nuked, it was pretty realistic and received damage from bunker-buster bomb.
Older Japanese versions weren't ever nuked, IIRC. It was always some kind of super-weapon like freeze bomb, or black hole cannon or micro-oxygen. Only US (stupid) 2014 version survived a nuclear blast.
Still, in general, Godzilla is big as carrier and test proofed that carriers are pretty nuke-resistant.
>>86025265
>Older Japanese versions weren't ever nuked,
That's how Godzilla was born, a nuke went off somewhere and gave birth to Godzilla. Then they had to use a weapon that destroys oxygen to kill it
>>86025265
>2016 version wasn't nuked, it was pretty realistic and received damage from bunker-buster bomb.
The premise of 2016 version was that the nuke tests in bikini atoll was actually murricans trying to nuke godzilla
>>86025405
That's the 2014 version, 2016 is Shin Godzilla
>>86025405
It's 2014.
2016 is a result of US-Japanese clusterfuck with nuclear wastes.
>>86025454
>>86025481
>new godzilla movie was 3 years ago
wtf really?
>>86023639
This thing is made out of radioactive material. A nuke is like what a nuke made of oxygen only would be to you.
>>86025530
>A nuke is like what a nuke made of oxygen only would be to you.
deadly?
Godzilla was never nuke, not even the original from 1954, but he was near when they were making Nuclear testings, also killing the rest of the "Gojira" Relatives. (that depends of the continuity)
>>86025515
Yes, the Japanese wanted to get back in the game so they made a new Godzilla movie in 2016.
>>86025603
Scary
>>86023639
>how does godzilla survive the nuke

pure oxygen is deadly for humans

He'd eat it. Duh.
>>86024582
>gets ripped from the inside
Yeah, well done.
>>86026413

You clearly didn't watch Independence day. Or any other movie where nuke is an absolutely (worthless) last resort.
>>86026465
There is not a single part of 2014 movie that is better than Anno's. From script to cast, from score to special effects.
>>86026614
Fuck off. Anno is shit director
>>86025741
>Godzilla was never nuke
There's whole scenes in 2014 Goji about how they tried to nuke him.

It's American "stupid" Godzilla. Written without understanding of the idea behind that kaiju.
>>86026741
Fair play.
I guess the Oxygen Destroyer was a stand-in for the atomic bomb, so technically I doubt '54 would survive a nuke.
>>86026805
Fun fact: Autist-chan has the same voice actress than Rei in the Spanish (spain) Dub.
Another case of meme-magic working.

then, Godzilla(2014) wasn´t a Metaphor for 9/11
Americans don´t understand the Real meaning of Gojira.

Problem solved
>>86024078

Cuz he is the Frikking King of the Monsters. and he will fight to save the Earth, his home. Not for Humankind.

Americans were teasing Japan again with air raids.
It was a troll about Hiroshima.
>>86024534

Forcefield.
Remember when 40 years since Superman the movie they finally make his forcefield canon. On screen I mean.
>>86026984
that really isn't that bad. ten seconds of humor and it's a reference to a dance that was popular at the time
>>86026614
Sure I watched Independence Day and original World of the Wars. They used it didn't they? So clearly American movies have different level of tolerance on nukes.
You might be right that these movies also showed that nukes don't work well. But my point is that Americans would use it. Japanese wouldn't.

>>86024768
>best Godzilla movie
Yea, no. Best iteration of Godzilla for sure, but killing bryan cranston in the first 30 minutes was the dumbest fucking move, and the faggot they had play him and his wife were like sandpaper to the eyes. Also, obligatory 'only 8 minutes of godzilla'
>>86024714
more like throwing a bucket of water at a thirsty person
They figured since they have a bigger bucket they can throw more water and kill him, except he'll probably just get refreshed and start wrecking shit more actively
>>86026304
Shin Godzilla just feels too weird to look at. His body is so static but his tail is so fluid, it makes like no sense.
>>86026614
>There is not a single part of 2014 movie that is better than Anno's. From script to cast, from score to special effects.
The script, cast, and score i'll give you.
But the special effects & choreography were just so amazing that I can't back down. especially when we got stubby-arms mcinflatable suit over there.
it was just playing to the nostalgia from the old movies, at least give credit where credit is due
>>86023639
>How exactly could Godzilla withstand a nuke?
He has hyper armor that is nigh impenetrable, and then absorbs the radiation
But if the armor was that strong, it would insulate the nuclear reactor of energy inside him so well he would destroy himself from the inside and have a meltdown unless he constantly expelled the energy from somewhere
>But oxygen
Godzilla could never exist. Turns out if you try to apply our understanding of physics and heat to fantasy creatures they fall apart. Woaaaa this is new
>>86023639
Unrelated, but why does Godzilla attract so many autistic people?
Things A.T. field had solved:
1. Weight and structural problem
2. Contact pressure to the ground
3. Heat and structural problems
4. Resistance to conventional weapons
5. Vulnerabilities to superweapons, especially to another sentient animal's A. T. Field
Perfect for your needs of making a giant robot show

Godzilla as designed by Rob Liefeld?
>>86024540
Underated post.
>>86031786
The fact that there were only 8 minutes wasn't a problem. Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 was great and it had the shortest Godzilla screen time. The problem was that they would constantly set up cool fights with Godzilla and then cut away right as the fight started so that you didn't get to see it until the end of the movie. That and the boring marine man wasn't even a character so much as a narrative device to change the scene location because every movie needs to take place at 50 locations around the world these days.
>>86023639
Dude basically has SCP-682 tier regeneration abilities.
Unpopular opinion maybe, but I really like the 2014 film just for some of the shots. I like his design too, honestly. He looks great.
Shin was awesome too, a lot more unsettling at points, but still very strong.
>>86040037
I enjoy G14 a lot from a visual standpoint. It reminds me of a Spielberg movie.
>>86041281
Yeah. Plotwise I don't really care about the focus on the humans in the movie, but visually it's incredibly well shot, and the size of scale of Godzilla is captured extremely well.

Highest grossing live-action film and second highest grossing film overall in Japan last year (behind Your Name). Won seven Japanese Academy Awards and other honors. Adjusted for inflation it's the 5th most successful Japanese Godzilla film and unadjusted it's the most successful. Also Anno's biggest success at box office to date.
