What the fuck happened to RICK and MORTY going on weird adventures? It's the best asset the show has, but for some reason they wanna tack on characters like Summer and Beth, even though the only purpose of Morty's family is to be the "straight man" to contrast their whacky mischief.

I kinda like the after the credits scene though. Using some "epic" looking scene in the opening just as some throw away gag is kinda clever.

This is a very surface level analysis to be honest.
Rick claims to be a nihilist, but his actions betray that. In the episode where he almost dies he starts praying to god, and he claims to not care about his family but we see time and time again that he truly cares for them. And the wacky catchphrases were an obvious sarcastic jab at sitcom characters like the Fonz.

The reason why she chooses to stay with Jerry? Beth needs people to
put down. She's an absolutely terrible mother, a lousy and emotionally
abusive wife, an alcoholic, and feels deep insecurities over her highly

her and constantly disrespect her husband and constantly put her
children in danger, but she relentlessly idolises him and puts soothing

wellbeing. It's also worth noting that the marriage was far more stable
before she allowed her father back into her life, which does not say
good things about her allowing her father to turn her against her own
husband, someone who chose to stay with her, for his own reasons, but
neverless was far more a stable figure in her life then her father.

Jerry is pathetic, but Beth is a complete mess of a woman. It's
easier to sneer and condescend and bully Jerry with her father then it
is to take a good look at herself. The woman needs someone to feel
superior to: her brittle ego has built up this precarious balance and
its foundation is having her notoriously selfish and unreliable father
(who btw isn't even her father as we all know) in her life and needing
someone to victimise. Remove any of the foundations for her day to day
functioning, and you'll see her come crashing down like a house of cards
in a stiff breeze.

/tv/ hates this show because it's all about creating expectations and then subverting them, and /tv/ falls for it every time. It makes them feel insecure.

Dan Harmon truly has a problem. He always leaves people turn its project into shit, Community was good until he left after s3 and all the characters were turned into jokes of themselves by people (new writters) who thought they understood the show...
Its literally the same with R&M right now, S3 was even delayed by Harmon for divergences after they hired the bunch of female writters.
Last two ep are a mess because its just relying on violence obvious pop culture references and pseudo psychanalysis.
Also having Jerry literally threw out the home without reasons or devellopement that led to it isnt even subtile or smart...
Harmon pretty much just a big beta, its a bit sad...

I was not really on the hate train, loved this show since episode 1.
But I swear I noticed something was "off" in season 3's episodes 2 and 3, and what do you know, turns out the new "female writers" are the ones who wrote them.

It's not even about gender, it's about talent. This wouldn't have happened if they brought writers based on talent. They literally said in an interview that they wanted to "make writers room gender equal, as many males as females". That means they didn't hire by talent, but by gender.

The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens.
