the only thing the "original" does right is inventing the grapple gun and having a pretty nice looking gotham. Literally everything else is fucking shit. Bruce is a non-entity, nobody has a personality or charisma outside of the most important characters (batman, joker) and even they are fucking miscast, ripe with genuinely awful decisions like making harvey dent a nigger and joker being the killer of the waynes. I find it unlikely that anyone who isnt a burton cocksucking retard with too much nostalgia would ever dare to embarrass themselves by defending this "film". Even batman forever was far better for just admitting that it was a comedy all along. The only thing thats worse than it is probably batman& robin and arguably the actual original if you hold it to the same standards as movies as a whole should be

Both those Burton movies have their flaws, but they harken back to a time when capeshit was in it's infancy and not all so cookie cutter and micro managed by the studios.

I think that's exactly it, just nostalgia for TAS. I rented it twice from blockbuster when I was like 5 or whenever it came out and it didn't stand out as great. As much as I love the Nolan movies, something like this captures the spirit of Batman to me better than anything in Nolan's trilogy.

89 is a perfect pastiche of the golden age / pulp era, it's as much a big screen adaptation of The Shadow as Batman himself, but then Batman Returns was on a whole other level nobody has even attempted to come close to in depicting Batman and his world as part of some grotesque opera. In both cases no way would capeshit even dare emulate these two movies today. There is way too much risk involved letting relatively renegade directors put their own unique vision on Batman.

Batman is good, but it feels kinda empty and devoid of passion. Batman Returns is superior in my book; a proper Gothic fairy-tale with superb atmosphere. 1989 feels like a production; Returns feels otherworldly.

Best Godzilla movie I've ever seen and I'm not a fan of the series. The reason why I bought this was because of Hideaki Anno, co-Director of Shin Godzilla with Shinji Higuchi, who had made an obscure movie called Cutie Honey back in 2004 based upon a 1970's manga/anime. It was about an cyborg girl who fought criminals and I loved it because it was cute, fluffy, bubble-gum, cotton candy entertainment. It also happened to co-star Shin Godzilla actress Mikako Ichikawa who I lust after.

Anywho, I've never been a fan of Godzilla but I think this is a GREAT movie and its because of the same reason that some people have complained about it. It shows how a government bureaucracy would deal with a real life disaster and it's brilliant that it uses Godzilla as a metaphor for the 2011 tsunami that caused massive devastation across Japan and also resulted in the Fukushima nuclear crisis.

Shin Godzilla reminds me of Steven Sodenbergh's 2011 movie Contagion as both movies use documentary style realism and low key acting which gives a more chilling depiction of how civilization would deal with a large scale events whether it be a virus or a huge rampaging monster just as Threads and The Day After did for nuclear war in the 1980's. No Hollywood heroics, just people dealing with the fallout and trying to survive. I also loved how the Japanese fought to retain control of the situation against international pressure from the USA/UN and resolved to deal with it on their own terms and be in control of their own destiny for better or worse.

I'd recommend this movie as it's briskly paced, well written, acted and Directed and certainly better than most of the garbage from the Hollywood trash factory. Well worth your time and money!!!FACT!!! https://youtu.be/WoLkrtbyAlA

Batman 89 was the most hyped movie in history and nothing I've seen since has compared. It's not great but still entertaining. The only thing keeping it from classic status is Michael Keaton. Don't get me wrong, he's a great actor but ALEC BALDWIN was born to play Bruce Wayne and should have been cast in the role while The Shadow proves it!!!FACT!!!

Also, I bought Walter Hill's Streets of Fire and THAT is how the Batman sequels should have looked. Burton, like Schumacher, went up his own ass on the sequel and fucked it up.

Streets of Fire has the sort of anonymous neon noir 1950's city aesthetic that Gotham city needs and Burton only moderately achieved in the 89 film before he went autistic in Batman Returns.

Seriously, Streets of Fire is a comic book movie in every way and Walter Hill should have Directed Batman 2!!!FACT!!!
