Where should I begin?
Ditching serious reading in favour of visual media (movies/tv shows/jewtube) was a mistake.
Reading books stimulated my intellect, books gave me food for thought, gave me new ideas, in fact books sharpened my mind. Even the mediocre the books had good bits in them.
I only ditched reading because it consumed more time than the visual media, but in retrospect when I think about it, the time invested in reading was worth it.
I used to quote many interesting quotes and ideas from my readings to my female friends and they were visibly impressed, they asked me how do I know these things.
On the contrary, visual media has done no such thing. Infact it has reduced my IQ by couple of points and also reduced my attention span.
Even the best of the best movies are not that intellectually stimulating when compared to great books.
Fuck you /tv/, /lit/ is going to be my new home.

These post show the average intelligence of /tv/edditors.

You're watching the wrong films.
I take it the books you were reading were not Harry Potter or Twilight quality.
Most of the film and TV you will see discussed on /tv/ is low-brow pap, such as Nolan, Tarantino, or Reddit & Memey.
Watch some Akerman, Ming-liang, Makhmalbaf, or Snyder if you want the kino equivalent of high-brow literature.
don't worry anon, the images aren't actually moving. it's just an optical illusion.

>tfw have that penguin edition
What are the alleged "errors"?
>>85963695
On page 139 leading to page 140 the sentence should read: ""...Your task, in the dreams, is often to cross under the trees through the shadows before something happens." The Penguin Deluxe Edition reads: "...Your task, in the dreams, is often to pens." The entire section is omitted with the word "happens" cut in half.

weird
Reading fiction books is literally one of the biggest waste of time existing.
You're not even learning anything, getting better at something or really thinking about anything. Except maybe if you're 6 and learning to read.
Plus it's super autistic. Who the fuck beside a total sperglord can relate or have anything to care about a fictive textual character ?

> He fell for the nonfiction meme.
Fiction and non fiction are equal. Both are riveting and satisfying.
Screw books, tv and films. Youtube is where it's at.

everyone knows video games hold the most potential for intellectual stimulation. it is a visual, audial, interactive medium that incorporates reading and dialog for story telling. The only more intellectual medium is smellovision

Every week the NY Top 10 bestselling books list is much much worst than the top 10 Box Office list.
Don't think a good book has been written in at least 52 years.
The best intellectual stimulation you can get is browsing /pol/. Where else could one read sophisticated and eloquent analysis of the world through the eyes of high-IQ redpilled teenagers?

> books gave me food for thought, gave me new ideas
of course. ideas are often communicated directly in written media. visual media connects emotionally much stronger. as a result the bar is lower for it's ability to make an impact

nonfiction (especially history or economics) is the only thing that matters to read, I couldn't finish a single script without reading at least 2 or 3 books in preparation
