I know we, and the books and show along with us like to pretend swordfight is like an artistic performance, but really what it comes down to is pushing, kicking and ramming at each other. The best chance a knight would have historically to put another knight down would be push him to the ground and then slit his throat, but that only happens if you're able to get them on the floor in the first place.

If you can't do that, all you're doing is injuring them where their armor can't protect their arms and legs, and temporarily stunning them by striking them on their helmet (but that can be a good thing since knights make good hostages).

And there's no way Arya can match Brienne in being able to push back.

One thing I felt the show did better was make it clear just how ridiculous the setting is. The books made it feel like I had to take the setting seriously, but it quickly becomes more and more fantastical, and the style doesn't quite shift with it. The series, however, is goofy as fuck from the start, and allows itself to become more goofy as time passes. Maybe it's unintentional, but I think it reflects the setting a lot better.
The main issue is the way they drop some characters and replace roles, but it's never been a big enough deal to bother me because I think ASOIAF is massively overrated.
