The White Walkers win in the show. Tyrion and Sansa win in the book, in a platonic relationship that's best for Westeros. Dany and Jon love each other, but the closer they get towards the end of the game of thrones (what a reference!) the more obsessed with power Dany becomes, to the point of scaring Jon. Jon is united with Sam, and Sam tells him how the White Walkers only exist to restore balance to nature aka undoing the magic that the Red Comet has brought into existence. Sam tells this in front of Sam and Dany, and Dany knows this suggest that the dragons and zombie-Jon need to end, or humanity will fail. Dany suggests they can destroy the white walkers, but Jon knows they can't, especially with the newly resurrected Drogon being under the service of the night's king. She imprisons Sam, and goes mad with power. Jon kills Dany after giving her an embrace (stabbing her in the back) but then he plunges his sword further into his own chest and they both die. The remaining dragons die trying to fend off the White Walkers and are resurrected. The White Walkers return to the north, Sansa and Tyrion remain wed with Tyrion being the king and Sansa being the queen of the north.

In the show, in the end, Cersei, Jon, and Dany have a cease-fire and they agree to take the fight to the White Walkers. Cersei betrays Jon and Dany, thinking that once the WW's are killed then they'll go to kings landing and destroy her. She would rather risk the end of humanity than give up the throne.
