The only thing which I acutally found good in that film is the main plot of the evil synthetic David.

Rest is basically bullshit. Scientists who go without protection (!) on strange planet and touch everything with their hands and inhale all the shit made me puke. The behaviour of the crew is retarded, the death of the captain at the beginning (when he was burnt) makes no sence and that cowboy is an idiot, how did he even get that job?

Plot is nice but the realization is just disappointing. The main point of horror film is to make it horrifying. People should act logically. If they fuck up it should be understandable why they did fuck up, but oh wait, you need actually some effort to write a proper story, better provide everyone IQ below room temperature and make them touch everything that looks strange. It's hilarious how in hindsight no one ever caught on to David's shenanigans, Shaw especially.

The film took a very sharp nose-dive at the end when another alien (or alien precursor, whatever nerds) takes out the nameless, faceless crew members in a run of 'Alien Greatest Hits' scenes. Before then, it had its own story to tell. The introduction, flashbacks and Android scenes were all intriguing and entertaining.

I feel that Scott wants these films to be more about A.I. All of the interesting parts of Covenant and Prometheus involved A.I and an exploration of the 'creator-creation' dynamic. His biggest mistake was to insist on all of this being set in the Alien universe, as the type of person to complain about a lack of EPIC XENOMORPHS™ is also the insufferable type to complain, as if it were some act of piercing and wholly original insight, about 'Interstellar colonisation health and safety procedure' and the method of evading a gigantic rolling doughnut ship.

When it's sci-fi, it's pretty good. When it's another slasher-movie, what's the point of watching?
