Why do good actors only ever feel that boxing movies are the only type of sports movies they can do? I know some are coaches in other movies but it seems boxing is the only one considered high art.
>>
the better question is how could a manlet beat the god that is dolph lundgren?

No. No. No. You answer MY question faggot. You don't get to pose your own.

IT IS A METAPHOR FOR MAN'S STRUGGLE
>>
That's not true. Based Tom Cruise did NASCAR kino.

because boxing is classy and MMA is for trashy white guys that shave their head and get covered in tattoos.

Idris Elba to play Lionel Messi in a biopic on his life.
>>

Boxing is really the only sport that is relevant in the US and the rest of the world. Nobody in Kentucky is going to watch a divegrass movie and nobody in Poland is gonna watch a handegg movie.

I said good actor retard

They want to do movies that focus on one particular person, and the only popular contact sport that does that is boxing.
>>
>>85941667
I change my question. It has to be a good movie not the typical cruise movie
>>

What are you talking about Pacino was in Any Given Sunday.

Read the OP again
>>
>>85941398
Personal stuggle is interesting, team struggle is too, but when the focal point of a movie is a team and the individuals on it there isn't as much "meat" to chew for actors to dig into. A boxer striving for personal glory both in and out of the ring has that in droves.
>>
>>85942038
MMA is not a sport.
>>
>>85941667

>sport

Also this film was just Top Gun in a car.
>>
>>85942038
Literally one of the only movies about mma. Also both actors werent very popular at the time.
>>
I don't think any other athletes in any other sport go through as much as boxers do.

Rush worked, but I really doubt many other sports without that intense a rivalry in it could work.

Jamie Foxx has an Oscar and he was in Any Given Sunday too

MMA. but yeah most sports won't work

He maybe listed 2 meme actors.

The Wrestler.
Foxcatcher.
The Damned United.
Friday Night Lights of course.

Damn, exclude boxers or acting as coaches and this shit gets hard. I'm excluding comedies too.

Wait, there's that Battle of the Sexes movie, which is looking like a dramedy.

>>85941715

Hmmmm...

You forgot Robert Redford in the natural.

I think baseball movies are on par with boxing desu

>>
>>85942504
Fake wrestling isn't a sport. Foxcatcher didnt focus on wrestling. The damned united and Friday night lights are coaches
>>
>>85942678
>Foxcatcher didnt focus on wrestling
Not many movies that are ostensibly about a sport are really about the sport itself, so this statement is pretty shallow.

The Sandlot.

Because boxing is actually pretty cinematic sports. It has a potential to provide not only a human story, but also some good action.
>>
>>85942427

grappling drills are relaxing as fuck

I prefer a day practicing judo than a day improving my boxing desu

lifting weights and bodybuilding must be the easiest shit by far, only harder than fucking soccer or something like that
>>
>>85942865
Guys punching each other in the face is definitely better from a cinematic perspective than guys rolling on the floor on top of each other. There's a reason action movies where characters fight for their lives with no rules always have a lot of flashy punches and kicks and not a lot of grappling.
>>
>>85942946

>>85943381
Yeah sure. That's the reason.
>>
Boxing is very easy to translate into a film. It's an individual sport (so the focus is solely placed on two people) and there's a ton of build-up between the fights (which gives the writer a convenient opportunity to flesh out the two characters before their fight). Plus the fight itself is easy to choreograph since it's just punching, compare that to football where you would need to make sure that all 22 players are in the correct position and the delivery of each ball is absolutely perfect.
>>
>>85943081
No one fucking cares about baseball.
>>
>no sport manlier than boxing.
>>
I'm tired of boxing movies, they're formulaic as shit. You can bet that you have your protagonist that comes from a poor working-class family, he takes up the sport to support his family/because he got beat up by a gang of street thugs, he's taught by a washed-up old boxer, he has an arrogant/rich rival who he fights at the end, etc...
>>
>>85943513
>no one cares about THE American Dream sport
Yeah, sure. Even non-Americans respect the Dream aspect of baseball, how it's a team-game that can still be focused on each exceptional hitter or pitcher without getting bogged down in game rules or lazy physicality.
>>
>>85943619
baseball is 100x more fun to play than to watch
>>
>>85941398

Actors love the idea of getting jacked and being a tough guy, they often have a complex about being manlets who play dress up for a living

>calling a man with a degree in Chemical Engineering a physicist.

Listen to me you god damn heathen fuck. Engineering is harder and more demanding then physics. I have a BS in Material Engineering and another in Physics. The vast majority of people majoring in Physics are edgy autistic fucks wearing fedoras and using vapes in buildings. That said was friends with one normal guy in Physics, he got a full ride at Clemson for his Ph.d. I'm like 90% sure he got it on the fact they did interviews and he wasn't autistic because others in the physics department had better GPA's and more research and didn't get shit from them.

>tfw when he lives off a 20,000 a year stipend busting ass for his Ph.d and the engineers went out and started at around $30-$35 hourly.
>>
>>85943671
That's true of all sports, isn't it? I'll play a whole bunch of sports but I get bored shitless watching any sport on tv. Boxing can be a bit awe-inspiring for those few moments when you see someone dodge a punch lightning-fast and then counter-punch faster than you'd be able to react, the highlights basically. But the meat of the match is still more boring than doing it yourself.

Engineers do work harder because they are dumber, I agree with that.
